DUE TO BALANCE ISSUES THE PREVIOUS GAME WAS CANCELLED AND REPLACED BY THIS ONE
__________________________________________________ _____________________________

The game is now in turn 55 (which is -1650BC for normal people) and things are starting to look better

Here is the lay of the land :

105.74*KB

There is still a lot of AIs around and ProPain is still largely outscoring me but I have a clear strategy now and I have good land around...
Tech pace is slow and my min run on Math could actually work out
I have bought quite a lot of workers from the AIs but they have loads of money and it should contribute to a certain mass upgrade...

I have made a huge mistake in the game just a turn ago though...
My exploring warrior finally found the Iroquois land (PP) and I reached a mountain top to check things better out.
ProPain when he got the turn asked me what my warrior was doing here, I casually answered he was exploring and had no bad intention...however when I got the turn back I regreted my words !
ProPain said that if I attacked he would consider it a "backstab" because when he asked me I said I would not attack and it would a "breach of treaty"
I dont agree as this was not a "treaty" but a casual MSM chat but after long consideration I decide not to attack purely for respecting the "word given".
The chance of razing the city was thin but I dont mind losing a warrior just to take my chance

Missed opportunituy there

Now in 1350bc and the same wandering warrior that almost attacked Grand River is now nearer to Salamanca (PP's capital). He is extremely hot-headed and mad at letting the opportunity to raze Grand River go by so hes' basically looking for a fight !

He just has to break something, anything,... he's out of control !

Now a turn earlier ProPain established an Embassy at my capital so he got a free look into my capital and money reserve
As retaliation I invest the money to investigate his capital just to be on equal footing

And here's what I find

82.3KB

You can see my warrior to the far west, technically I cant reach Salamanca before him but I might jsut take my chances

As you can closely see on the screen above I made what the Dutch could call an "inschattings vergissing" : PP had time to build his Spearman (with food growth) just *one* turn before I could reach his capital

So the Angry Warrior went on a Pillage Rampage and destroyed PP's lux road and valuable irrigation, took out one his vet warrriors...before dying fighting
Oh well...it did cause some minor disruption...
After that PP used the "Peace deal" bug to accept Peace and I took it.

If you remember last time I was one turn from finishing my min science gamble on Math.
IT concluded successfully and I was able to get money and some techs : I purposely did not get all techs as my prime objective is to build a sizeable treasure for my mass warrior upgrade
I passed on quite a few worker deals in order to keep my treasure and run deficit science all the way, also most workers were from Celts and as they are PPs neighbours I did not want to hurt them too much...
The important tech was Map Making as I need as many Galleys as possible for Operation Huron . More on that one later...

After that I went on Maximum Reseach towards Currency and added at least 5 cities during that period which greatly helped my research effort...and finally I dicovered Currency 2 turns ago (around 1100bc?).
Now one amazing aspect of this game is that the AIs are doing pretty well, at least they are making tons of money; more than in *any* of my other PBEM games, also there are 3 commercial Civs with Rome, Greece and Carthage maybe that is a factor...even tough Mongols and Celts are the richest civs
This situation fits my purpose perfectly

The discovery of Currency, helped by the treasure I had kept from the min science gamble, AND the coincidental discovery of Polytheism by Carthage made this round one of my most productive gamble in my PBEM history.
Here is a screen recap, I dont believe it needs commentary...

And that should be enough to take care of the little Iroquois, thank you very much

I stop research and make 40gpt : one Immortal a turn

Just ONE turn after this big trading round, one the AIs researched Construction so most of the AIs reached the Middle Age and massive barb uprisings occured.
Or at least that's what ProPain told me because the barbs did not appear around my territory, the AIs had done a real good job clearing them for me I guess

I played on 2 turns and then seeing how well this game was going for me I made a radical strategic decision : originally my plan was to use my free tech to get Republic or in this case Monarchy (since I plan to go to war very soon and have huge number of units...)

The Mongols had discovered Construction and traded it around so they had a nice treasure, in my fanatical quest for money I decided to get my money back from the AIs before they start rushing stuff in their Empire, I chose the short term way 100% and
did the following trades :

Great deals ! Except I now had no leverage at all to buy Monarchy and since I intended to spend my all my money on upgrades I would need to pull a Despot victory for sure now
Operation Huron will have to be final !

Now I was definitely a step in front of ProPain and I did not see how he could have a min science gamble still running or how we would make up for all those techs (remmeber on top of those I am also up Monotheism and Feudalism)...

After finishing to establish embassies with all AIs (boy is that expensive ) and since the Military Alliances are NOT off the table, I tried to use my position to get the Celts moving on ProPain :

Are they best buddies or what ???
They must have a lux deal or something...
Of course I was never gonna give them all my money for an Alliance but this is to show you there is just no way they would have accepted, even if I had topped this off with all my 39gpt

ProPain is much more experienced in this sort of Diplo (Military Alliance) than I (see his victory vs anarres for proof !) so I guess I will just have to be on my own way when I attack. I will have to seal the Greeks and Mongols on my side before I go to war vs PP though, just to prevent PP enrolling them against me

Skyfish, the answer to this is: you HAVE to declare war first. Then the MA prices drop by a lot.
