Prices, training etc.... these days...
A 24 yo magnificent PM, excellent passing player costs 3 M euro on average.
A 26 yo magnificent PM, excellent passing player costs 2.2 M euro on average. A 28 yo magnificent PM, excellent passing player costs 1.6 M euro on average. A 30 yo magnificent PM, excellent passing player costs 1.2 M euro on average. A 28 yo supernatural PM, excellent passing player costs 2 M euro on average. A 28 yo titanic PM, formidable passing player costs 2.5 M euro on average. Wait a minute! A 24 yo magnificent PM, excellent passing player costs 3x as much as a 30 yo one!!! Also, a younger player will lose his value far faster than an older player. If you keep a 24 yo player for two seasons he loses 800k from his value. If you keep a 28 yo for two seasons it’s only 400k……… Could anyone tell me why I shouldn’t sell my young PM’s and replace them by far stronger older players? I know that older players take longer to heal from injuries and that they also need more stamina training to be in shape. But an injured player is easily replaced looking at the prices. Also I could switch to general training at 80% and abandon specific training. Nice benefit also is the form boost that I’ll be having week by week. |

The problem is that people are lazy. Once they buy a player, they expect him to last for a few seasons. After all, you never know how much money you will have then and how long the current price situation will last. Market is not very predictable and in the long run, if one can afford it now, there is no point in buying some older guy who would have to be replaced in one or two seasons. Avoiding hassle and tedious market hunting is top priority, at least for me and probably for many others. I usually aim for something around 25 and may be 26. Well, that is the reason I'm not doing very well. But cannot complain since I'm not spending any time with HT recently, maximum is 30 minutes per week.

that is why I am playing with a bunch of old guys, except for my trainees. The old guys also have lower salaries. I personally do not sell a player because of his age, only because his stats no longer fit my team.

In the past few seasons, I have also bought mostly 27-30 year olds. Pays off well so far. Especially beginning from 29 years, they lsoe wage...

I think I'm going to sell a lot of my players.
I have 3 popular players, 2 sympathetic players, 1 pleasant player. My TS is delirious right now. How big will be my TS hit if I sell all of them (on average)? |

I don't know if it is really worth it, if you sell your players only for that. Might be, might not be. The chance of a TS hit is IIRC about 25% for popular players, 17% for sympathetic and 10% for pleasant palyers. Or something similar. So you can expect 1-3 drops (with 3 not that likely but well possible). So in total i might be something like 1-3 steps of TS. Maybe. I don't have any numbers on how high the hit is, but IIRC I haven't seen more than 1 step per hit. But it's most likely a relative drop, not an absolute anyway.
So selling is only worth it, if you really geta ood price. It's something different, if you'd buy anyway.

I bought two disagreeable players and my TS dropped a full two points... me and my luck It's hard to predict. Sometimes you don't see any effect.

I think I'm going to wait until after week 10. I'll play two bots in 11 and 12...
edit: no, after week 8. I'll play a bot in week 9, a weak midfield team in 10 and bots in 11 and 12...... Last edited by Aggie; 04-03-2009 at 09:19. |
