My start

Initially crap- had two tiles in the big fat cross that were desert, so i moved it. new place better tiles- it was tempting to move for awhile as you'll see in the next picture but i decided my second city would look perfect there!

Gold, silver and gems. Tech is sorted till liberalism, happyness is sorted forever (just add a forge).

My traits, imperialistic (ach) and philosophical-usefull. Unfortunatly it appears i wont be able to use philo to the best of its ability in either of my first two cities. That means if i don't see a quick metal/horse. i may as well get my great person city on the go, lib in it and its pumping 12 GPP points before the 100th turn of the game is up.

So i've just met my first neighbour, what a handy neighbour to have as well...

It's only prince but im still hoping i can get something to take him out early.

So i met barbu he's about 20 tiles probably a little more away, i have sod all resources in or around my borders. Researching IW now in the hope that some of that will be near but if not im going to have to try a quick burn to Feudalism.

Also i have monty nearby AND barbu already has horses and possibly other things in his cultural border.

So here i was sitting with no metals, no horses or really anything of use within any of my borders, so i switched my research towards feud, in the hope i'd be able to hang on with archers till then.

Then i scouted out this patch of dirt far ish away but close enough to seem very appealing.

Im planning on building just north of the iron, however i'd settle for just the iron if i had too. As im worried whether or not i'll get it, thats monty's border right next to em so he will just beeline to iron first as well and he'll know its there. i've continued on my path towards feud, if i manage to get the iron i'll switch to alphabet in the hope of getting to it before barbu and gifting all the AI up to my level/trading to keep him down.

At last check he doesn't have a city yet but with my whipped settler i should have 3 withing about 8/9 turns, maintenance from that city will kill me but hopefully one of the metal mines near em should be enough to stave it off for the time being. After alphabet im going to head toward monarchy, em will need to grow quite a few sizes before all the mines can be worked so i intend to let it.

I've got no plans to attack barbu for awhile as im simply not in a position to do so.

See the nice horses he has near his capital? he was just roading towards themabout 5 turns ago when his archer viciously killed my warrior. we're at war but neither of us i dont think has anything to attack with just yet, i hope to get this iron settled and then try and get it worked and roaded so i can build a couple of spears in anticipation of a chariot attack.

Luckily when not whipping my demographics are looking very good, number 1 soldiers, number one pop (pre whipping my capital), number 1 gnp, the only thing im doing quite badly in is mfg but hopefully as my cities grow that should change. In the meantime waiting for the iron to be connected im going to be switching between workers and archers.

This game ended the other day after i razed barbus capital and i think destroyed the majority of his fighting force.
