An American's perspective on football
Quote:
Now, we were having a discussion about this recently, but this guy has thought a lot about it apparently. I like the part about America being the only super power left best I have no clue who Tom Powers is (probably a nobody), but who cares.

Tom Powers is probably the same guy pushing for aluminum bats to be used in Major League Baseball because he does not like to see a pitching duel in baseball. I do however have to admit that this is probably a common feeling amongst Americans...

That's pretty sad then. It's a summary of misconceptions, and the guy clearly shows that he knows nothing about the game when he states that there's a single referee. And his ending is downright sad, and insulting.
The only thing that he's right about is that it doesn't fit american taste, the rest is only demagogic page filling.

Hmm, looks like that 0-3 hammering vs the Czech Rep really hit pretty hard there in the States...
Seriously, who cares what such people think about football? Let them stick to baseball etc. for all we care, it's their loss in the end.

Show well how many Americans feel about the world : superior and distant. But then intrusive in other people's affairs when there is interest. Simple equation that leads many people in the world to hate the USA. But the USA don't care, right ? More on focus, this article is one which only seems to be for humour purpose. Maybe those right-wing people have some English humour, but on the opposite ?

Funny. Yet disturbing. I bet he's a Republican.
But...I really question it's seriousness. This is too dumb to be true.

...some of us like both soccer( we have to say soccer..otherwise other Americans will get confused) and baseball not to mention American football. But then again most of us that do like Soccer probably didnt vote for the current administration, we were to smart for that.
Greenday is right...."Don't wanna be an American idiot." bla bla bla... "I'm not a part of a redneck agenda." This guy wrote this for the mouth breathing, knuckle draggers that think good beer comes in aluminum cans and that Nascar is a real sport. left turn left turn left turn CRASH. left turn left turn..Redneck wins. |

ok guys lets back off on the US bashing. You are grouping 260'ish mil people all in one group and that is not fair. Sure many people do not like or understand soccer but that does not mean that we feel we are superior and distant. to be truthful a lot of us are embarassed at our current leadership and governments view of the world. Lets not go grouping all of us togeter as it is not a fair assesment of the truth.

Come on now. You guys are being a little aggressive. Americans don't care about "football" except for soccer moms. It gives them a few hours in their day of peace.
It's very simple Americans prefer baseball in the summer and we flock to stadiums by the millions to watch it. It's our game. Like New York, Chicago has 2 teams and both will draw well over 2 million people to the games. Baseball is a true team game. It's nearly imposssible to win (or tie) 23 games in a row. IMO baseball is a more intricate sport as well more difficult to be good. Maybe not more athletic but good at the game. We don't feel superior to you guys we just don't care. It's not our sport. Baseball is our sport and we love it like no other. You guys could give a shit about the game so how about you kick me in the balls and I'll give you $5 and we'll call it even. How about that? What the... There's history to baseball like no other. You may call us distant and superior or it's our loss or disturbing but we just do our own thing. Why we have to conform to what the world likes?
