Here is my start.... Darkness has stated that his start was mediocre which is how I would classify this one. I settled in place and there is a Goodie Hut to the North West. I presume that Darkness is in the SW since it looks like I'm in the NE.

Heh, got to second grs there... having gold + food nearby always classifies as good in my book.

But it depends on the map conditions, on duel maps other things might be more important, such as copper and forests.

Dang that is close. What's the plan? Warrior, warrior, worker to mine the copper you better have?

well I got my warrior out and just finished mining. I'm actually going for a barracks next for the extra promotion.

My warrior is going to that GH to my capital's NW. Darkness never saw it. I also got a GH that he missed on his side of the world. Hopefully I'll get a tech out of one of these things.

minor update....

I have BW, Darkness doesn't. We both have a nice little plot of copper just outside of our borders. Mine should assimilate sooner since I have a religion. :D

Looking at the power graph (I'll post a pic next turn) tells me that he has 2 warriors. WE are even in score and population. I shoulg get the Wheel at the end of next turn so I just jump a head. He is currently building a worker since his crop yeild is really high and mfg. goods is really low. His GNP is only 1 ahead of mine. Barracks will be done in 2 turns. Then the build will be warrior until growth to 4 then worker. That way I could switch to finish the warrior if he comes at me.

Ok.. now we have both lost our scouts I believe and I know where horses are. We're both at pop 4. So far I'd say that it's a dead heat except that my horses are in tundra :(

Darkness made a run at me and I repelled him. We both have 2 cities although he has a 6 and 3 pop and I only have 6 pop and 1 pop. I suspect that he is building workers/settlers currently

you really really need to grow.

one thing you could do is grab machinery and xbow rush him? not many folk thing of doing it but with the +50% vs melee he doesnt have much of a counter.

May i suggest putting the whip away for a little while, otherwise he will outproduce you eventually to a point where you wont be able to hold him off

I'm in my death throws. Darkness has at least 3 cities.. he's razed one of mine (thankfully the smallest one) I have gotten to macemen. I've turned off science for a little while to get cash to upgrade some of my axes to macemen. I'm hoping to be able to get catapults soon, but first I need to make sure that I can stay alive for that long.

Darkness has taken my city, but I exacted a toll on his forces. I'll be dead soon. He has a steady supply of axes and cats coming now. with a road from his territory to mine all of this adds up to me dead in 4 turns if I'm lucky.
