Deathmatch IV - Spoiler thread
I've now seen a screenshot of the map but not received the turn yet. Alliance talks are already moving towards signing an alliance with Beam however Akots posted in the global thread that he would prefer a 2v2 alliance which hints that he would like arranged alliances.
I guess I am the newbie in this game with probably the least experience. The current tech path seems to be for me to take amphibious and Beam take Motorised which I'm happy with since Marines could be useful anyway. |

Good, a Spoiler!
Hint, The Overseer in the middle of the map has 30 attack, 30 defense, but NO movement. He also has no Zone of Control, so unless he's truly in the way there is no risk. If you do want him gone anyways, know that he has a massive anti air defence of 20. Good luck!

Currently I'm thinking that initially it will be difficult to break through without breaking an alliance.
As soon as tanks come around then it might begin to be worthwhile to attack. Marines could prove useful as raiders though. Currently building these small wonders: Bombers - Going to be useful later on including injuring the enemy navy. Infantry - In a central city, takes 6 turns to build and will be useful for some time Submarines - Good attack and useful for hunting subs. |

Much shorter turn this time
We may have combat next turn as the two turns of democracy will be over. Neither Matrix nor Akots have sent me any communications whereas Beam has so I believe we will have a 2v2 alliance. To this end I have largely pulled my navy back to the coastline so that only Matrix's fast ships would be able to reach mine. Abandoned the idea of building the infantry wonder since I can just conscript infantry and gone back to building the artillary wonder. And a bit of spying: 202.52KB |

Did you get troop placement in the spy menu? Why are some of his cities empty. Or am I just messing up due to being up too late @ night...

Yeah its just a recon mission. Tanks in 6 turns. Basically this means that I feel any land offensive is doomed to fail for now. Once tanks appear there may be more of a chance for success if the opponent is surprised.

I ll admit that I havent seen this age in civ for a very long time. But arent recon planes shot down by anti-air? Or is there a % chance to remain undetected (unlike U2)

I think that there is no chance of them being shot down.

The advantage of letting the enemy come to me. When playing Rcoutme's WW2 scenario it became apparent that planes have a massive advantage over ships at the current time and ships are massively vulnerable on defence. In that game I lost basically the entire Italian navy in the first few turns and then managed sink quite a few ships mostly through air bombardment. I'm reasonably confident that this ensures that the naval situation will be in my favour for some time unless he has ready for a counter attack which is possible. |
