Well, perhaps Shogun2 is better. It's hard to say, as the game is just... well... different. But if you have budget concerns I would heartily recommend R:TW!

What turns me off about previous TW games is that in the end I figure out that civ's campaign map (read: city management) is just a lot better. TW also lacks workers and terrain improvement. But Shogun2 is different in the way that it doesn't make sense just to build every building you have available. As a matter of fact, you couldn't do that even if you wanted to (due to building spot restrictions, which are coupled to palace size, which is coupled to food requirements). So this time around you actually have to plan in advance. There's a tech tree now as well. All this does make the game a lot slower, but stuff like that and the character building (rpg element)
only strengthens the importance of the units you do have. Previous TW games (from Rome to Med2 and Empire) only made the scale larger and larger.

Oh, and there's ninja's in it.
First I'll be testing Shogun2 and see if I like it. If I do I'll look around for DEMO Rome TW as I do have budget concerns. If I like that as well I'll go for the cheapest TW.

OOOOHHH Ninja's... COOL
OOOOHHH Burning pigs ... COOL

Can't decide - can't decide

Never seen any burning pigs in RTW. Where do I find those?

mmm, don't think the WWF will approve but I guess they weren't around back then. Still it amazes me this hasn't caused some sort of public outcry. Usually some idealist will feel offended and phone the newspapers and their local representative.

Shogun2 and it's DLC is on sale (-75%!) on Steam. The game is just 10 euro's, the DLC is practically free. Although the game doesn't have any dispensers I endorse this game! Especially for that price...

Although I'm tempted as hell, I won't buy it. Still have the rest of the TW franchise to play and a crapton of other games.
