Default Tulpenrallye

Hi!

Next saturday (may 8th) I will fly to Geneve, where I will meet my FIAT. Then I will drive to Beaune (Bourgogne, roughly between Dijon and Lyon, a few kilometers west of the Saone river).

On monday morning, we will start for a 6 day rally and feast of decadence accross Burgundy, the Elzas, the Champagne, the Ardennes, Flanders and then to Noordwijk aan Zee, where we will hopefully finish on saturday may 15th.

You can check my results on www.tulpenrallye.nl . The site is in English too. Sijmen & I will have starting number 168 (sports class of course ) .

For those who are really interested. You can visit Huis ter Duin in Noordwijk on saturday may the 15th. Watching 200+ classic cars to come in is cool IMHO.
If you'll make it, I'll buy you a beer! Finish will start at 14:30. The final day usually is relatively easy going, and we will start in ranking order, starting with the loosers . So, I hope to finish at 16:30 or so.

How is the Fiat getting there? Do the organisers transport all the cars?

No, you have to do that yourself. I hired a truck&driver with 8 spots for 2000 euros. I sold 7 spots for 300 euros each. The organisers over spots for 450 euros, so all are quite happy with me, and don't mind I not only transport my own car there for free, but even make a small profit.

Some competitors drive their cars to France themselves. When having an MG B GT or any other GT-like car, it can be fun to drive your car over the highway.
With the FIAT, such a thing is idiotic. Though it runs 100 mph / 160 kph easily now, the monotone noise is unbearable then. Also, the cooling system is not as upgraded as the engine is. The FIAT can't run 150+ for more than 30/40 kilometers.

Were are out!

Our gearbox is fucked up. I have spent the whole night, from 16:00 - 23:00 hours on a greasy fight with the gearbox, but couldn`t fix it.

A sad day.

BTW: typing on a french PC sucks.`
OTOH: Live is good in France!

Why ? Do you use Qwerty keyboards too in Holland ? I like my Azerty one, and sometimes at work we have French keyboards but the Unix server understands it as a Qwerty one !

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed your little time here, though it was shortened. There must have been some wineyards where you went, mmmh ? Hehe.

Off-topic : if you're back at home, then it could be a good idea to let us know if you can complete the Diplo turns by tomorrow.
