Actually, no. There's a (tiny) blog that comes with the cartoon, the creator thinks all versions of civ after civ1 are redundant. If you change civ1 to civ2, I think he's right... But besides that he thinks civ5 has some appeal other versions don't have: you don't need to spam cities. And that's a good point.
