Default I'm going on holiday

So now thats decided i could do with some advice on what to do.

The only holidays i've been on all i've had to do is either let my parents pay or give the school some money.

Also i would like to go to Paris- don't really mind how i get there so long as it isn't by car as i dont have a car. So any advice on how to get there and where to stay would be great?

Also remember that i'm a student so i dont have tonnes of cash but nor do i want to stay in a youth hostel. i'm combining valentines day and birthday here so i figure i should at least stay somewhere reasonably nice.

All i've done so far is look at expedia, last minute.com and easyjet holidays. They're all sort of package deals, i.e. flights and hotel- so which is best/easiest/cost effective in ordering?

Anywhoo, any advice would be welcomed.

No big advice here since I've been in paris in 2001 and I was coming from america.

Anyways, I remember staying in a hostel that was cheap, but nice. They had rooms for 2 but no double bed. I also stayed in a 1 or 2 stars hotel. That was nice but no cabinet in the room. Both where in Montmarte.

The things I liked:
1- Walking around
2- Versailles (but since you'll be in ferbuary, the gardens and fountains will not be working)
3- Coming back to the hotel trough Sacré-Coeur on a saturday night and seeing 1000 frech, people drunk on the stairs.

Well im thinking about going the last weekend of february from like the 29th till the 2nd/3rd.

One thing i don't understand is just where do i want to stay, i understand that Paris has districts but i dont understand just where these districts are/which are the better one's than others. We both do history so obviously that'd be interesting but its also the two of us going away so kinda has to be, y'know, 'nice'

You could bring her to Texas. Texas is even better than Paris cause we don't have those pesky French people everywhere.

I would offer my (soon-to-be) comfy place to you (and GF if I got it right ?), but I won't have it yet by the time you get here. Not before mid-March, I guess.

As for where to stay in Paris, don't really know. But it's not important where you stay, because you have Metro everywhere, and you can reach any point in Paris in less than an hour. I'll speak for housing only, so the most expensive "arrondissements" in this area are : 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 15, 16. Basically the centre and the west. As for what to visit, I guess you already have an idea, but if you want any more ideas, just ask.

Yes but you do have lots of those even peskier americans

You could always try Australia, No french, no americans and it is summer down here, plus you wouldn't need to drive
