map was nice, made for some interesting standoffs, but the wc's were able to run around them faster than romeo could counter. romeo stated that my early expansion doomed him, but i don't have his p/w so i can't tell how desperate he was. i think getting monarchy was the real key, but, to quote akots, war chariots rock

this was my army at the end. wc #'s were starting to swell so thebes would also spit out settlers now and then. also, one of the core towns just finished building a lib so it wasn't building wc's for the last 10 turns (just got it to 10spt when lib was done)

I learned quite a bit in this 1v1 debacle.
1) I do not have the balance between early expansion and war correct yet.
2) Culture is really crappy if the A.I. doesn't buffer me from a fast attacking human.
3) When you get a 3 or 4 turn settler pump, use it.
4) Speed kills
5) An unorthodox move can payoff huge, (I kinda thumped his army early on, but he could just build more)
6) 1v1's really amplify any potential mistakes (Trying to grow my capitol to size 8 instead of pumping settlers)
7) Despotic GA's vs Monarchy GA's not really fun. (could see the time to techs drop)
8) Bring out the warring after I get some unit variety in there.
9) If I pick a scientific civ, at least try to get to the MA.

The map was good, and Grahamiam got some good practice in beating me.
