I fired it up but only played a few minutes. There definitely seems more to the game though. No gold just from the coastal tiles, you have to set up trade routes quickly.

I doubt it's remotely as good as EU4's traderoutes. I have a gut feeling this is simply another layer of complexity on top of a fundamentally simple game. Fun, okay, yet simple.
