Fokke and Sukke are unable to distinguish all those mustaches

"For the time being, we assume there are 7 million doubles for Saddam."

"There's another one!"

This one was in the newspaper on Valentines day.

Fokke & Sukke also received a card
- "You have the biggest dick I've ever seen!"
- No, "ARE"

Not a cartoon, but too funny to neglect. Todays 'Volkskrant' (serious dutch newspaper) has this article on the backpage (light news). The guy on the foto is not Saddam but a dutch marine that looks like him and is currently part of the dutch mission in Iraq!

foto caption 'Marine Schoofs "When I see an American unit I just wave."'

Article head: 'Get rid of that mustache Saddam'

The article says his fellow soldiers have asked him several times to shave his mustache because they feel endangered with him resembling Saddam that much. He refuses that.

Under the 'wanted' fotos of Saddam in the dutch camp someone has written 'This man is better known as Sergeant Major Schoofs'

Top:

'Premier, our nuclear missiles have hit their targets. We are at war with all neigbouring countries.'

'So, the left button was for coffee after all.'

Bottom:

'Van Druten is screwing things up. He won't get my vote'

'Apparently, he's anticipating the election results with great confidence.'

'Give me one good reason.'

I like editorial cartoons a lot. One of my favorites appears in the dutch De Volkskrant, but we have enough dutch cartoons here. This one was on the clipboard in our coffee corner. For those who missed it, I'm in Energy and Environmental Sciences, so that's probably why I find this one funny. On the other hand, I can imagine that there are people who don't understand it, or miss the joke.

U.S. energy policy is even dumber than their foreign policy. The good thing is, failing energy policy can be proven scientifically. They make it really easy btw, just look at yesterday's events. Blackout in NY, now that'll make up for what percentage of the Kyoto protocol?
On the flip side, the dutch government has some real problems with 'science' as well. In the US it is quite obvious that an open market approach to energy production (that's something different that sale btw) doesn't work. Recent problems with the warm weather show this as well.

Hey, more work for me! Hurray!

OK, here's the cartoon. It's an oldie, the 2nd of june to be exact, and I've got no idea why it was in the paper back then, but I suppose that there was some government publication or something.

For the non-Dutch:

"Please tell us, was it difficult?"

"On holiday for 6 months with 9 Germans?"

This is about a man that was taken hostage in Algeria and was freed yesterday. Obviously also 9 Germans were taken hostage.
