From http://www.pcgamerpodcast.com/ , an interview with Sid Meier said the following:

Civ4 is going gold sometime this week.
Firaxis is creating some scenarios.

Expansions planned over the next year.

These better not be PTW-type expansions, aka release a game with little content and add expansions with content later..
