1. Egypt, Persia, France, America, Arabia
2. Continents
3. 70 %
4. Warm
5. Wet
6. 4 billion
7. any way possible

Barbarians: not raging

I'd like to join also, I've played a few sg's with a friend and they're fun. I don't mind what conditions we play although I'd say religious, industrious, expansionist characteristics make life easier.

I think the earlier turns will be bloody crucial so I am also suggesting that some of the players I look up to (anarres, ERIKK, Col amongst others) be the first people to play their sessions.

Actaully Erikk and I are pretty much looking up to everyone else as far as the ladder is concerned

1) Depends on traits, but I agree Industrious is almost essential to make life easier. Religious is good too, but I think Industrious with a strong UU is better than Industrious and any other second trait. Egypt's UU is far too early on Deity for my tastes, and it requires nerves of steel and often a nice dollop of luck to make good use of it. I would prefer a civ with a Middle Age UU like the Chinese or the Ottomans. Persia can be made to work at a stretch, but you have to make do with a slow UU and a GA that is several techs too early.

2 - 6) Anything but Archipelago will be fine, island maps are a different type of game to most, generally involving long build-up periods to go and capture the nearest island.

7) I think deciding a victory type to go for will allow more focus on the game and where it is going. There is the opportunity for builder styles and warmonger styles to clash, and deciding the tone of the game now will help avoid that. I would be happy going for any victory type, but personally favour a military victory (Domination or Conquest).

20 turns at first then 10 sounds fine.

The Ottomans are great, but I have played a lot of games with them. I guess they're the best civ and the Sipahi looks cool

I never have a problem to trigger the Egyptian Golden Age at a later time. There's allways a foreign warrior walking around. Even in the late industrial age.

I'd love to, but I'd better start in an Emperor SG. Don't have too much time on hand anyways.

Excellent!

Well, I mean sorry you cant play, but this leaves someone we know (and trust) to make us a map and make sure all starts are equal, or at least we aint stuck in the desert...

Aw ladder smadder (or blubberlutche as Killer might say), being coy doesn't suit you and I've seen the GOTM ladder. Putting yourself down at the start of an SG is a great way to explain set backs later, but I aint falling for it... []
