CDZ Avatars and transparancy
or: why using IE is bad
<missionary mode> Below you see a pic on how the avatar is supposed to look, and how it does look in that certain product from that certain big company: Sweet and not-so-sweet, hmm? </missionary mode>

Nice, but what's your point? My avatar has a transparent background, hasn't it? At least, here... and I'm using IE.

Ok, i wasn't clear enough in the first post. Of course IE can display transparancy, but not alpha transparancy (that is: parts of the image are visible for example 50%). With IE it's either 100% or 0%.

And i dont think the pictures i posted showed the proper story so here they are again with a bit more perspective:
Opera: 30.94KB MSIE: 27.13KB So it looks like MSIE is the looser (Opera is much faster to load pages as well ) |

Yes, that was my point. Thanks for the help, Digger!
Every normal browser (except IE) can display alpha transparency. And to make my point even more clear, i made a little example pic while digger was doing the same. The following pic should always show the background of the page (independent from it's color) on the left - smoothly going over to yellow on the right. You can't do that with the "all-or-nothing" transparancy of gifs.
