I think it's fair to say that it's dead dude.

But you did try everything and that's the main thing.

It often takes catastrophic hard disk failure to really get the backup your shit message accross

I feel for your loss...

Hit it hard on all sides, may be even with a hammer, you've got nothing to lose. May be the heads will align then.

But looks firm dead.

Hopefully back with this : http://www.rue-montgallet.com/prix/7...echnique/4550/ It cost me 72 €, in the "Paris Chinese micro street", I hope I made a good deal, it has 3 years of site guarantee. I wonder if it's the same with my old one, though I had bought it with a full PC, 2.5 years ago.

Expect some Civ action pretty soon now.

Good news!

So, did you get the save I sent you or do I need to resend?

Dunno yet.

Bad news : I've been "stolen" some CDs, nothing important : Windows, installation CDs... which prevents me from running my PC again. I may not fix this before next weekend. All PBEMs on hold until that, I'm sorry.

A good news (the CFC invasion) never comes alone. Thanks to grs (really cool of you, mate !), I was able to install the missing drivers after finding a WinXP CD and a key on the Net (thanks grs again). Tonight I'll complete the reinstallation of various programs and games, and so I'll be able to resume Civ during this weekend. I'll ask you all to resend a turn if I miss some (no need until then).

Well, it was pretty clear, no ? What I know is that I can't find CDs that should be in some place, because there is simply no reason for me to give them away. WinXP and OfficeXP on burned CDs were mine (everyone can make a copy), and the installation CD doesn't interest anyone, so... I'm left in doubt. Maybe the house cleaner ?? I also miss some blank CDs...

No, it was not clear...your use of English was dreadful...i am just helping you on your use of English, given that it not your native language.

You could have just said "I am missing some CD's" and it would have been crystal clear

EDIT: I had a Friends "Operation Flash Point" CD go missing..About 2 years later it turned up in my Music CD collection, after i had looked everywhere else in the house, including under the kitchen sunk and in all the boxes in the attic...It just goes to shows how often i listen to music CD's these days
