Fall from Heaven 2
With so many fantasy fans (as evidenced in the "recommend me a book" thread in OT) at CDZ I'm kind of amazed that no-one has mentioned Kael's Fall from Heaven 2 mod for CIV before.
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=171398 Has anyone ever tried this mod? Dwarves, elves, humans. Good versus evil. And CIV... What more do you want from a good fantasy game? I stumbled upon this a couple of days ago and I've played some. It's really complex (lots of new buildings, units, promotions, magic spells, etc.). Much more complex that regular CIV, but I find it very much fun to play, although I am still fairly clueless as to what exactly I am doing...

I'm playing this one from the very first version. It is wonderful indeed a completely different game.
I believe I know what I'm doing, beating it on Deity a couple of times and done it with most of civs and victory conditions on Emperor. Version 0.4 is great fun and the latest update is patch "p" or "r" IIRC. Not all scenarios are ready yet but most are and those are huge fun as well. What I'd seriously like is to have a PB with it on an Erebus map but it is going to be a long game and some final patch has to be released otherwise they are changing and updating it too much to be playable for a PB.

It looks very good.
The look reminds me of Age of Wonders II. I'll probably try it this week-end. It also reminds me that I have HOMM V final campaign that I need to take care of.

That is not a big issue, for MP balance events can be turned off (but not barbarians, barbarians are part of the fun, at least starting from Emperor!). This would slightly deplete the game since these events are huge fun and I don't think that great prophet on turn 30 will actually help anyone with anything seriously and that is a big thing compared to regular game.

Events are a huge part of the fun. Turning them off would definately take some of the flavour away from the game. And a great prophet very early (or another great leader) would definately matter. A free shrine as soon as you finish researching a religion? That would definately boost the economy significantly... Or Orthus spawning close to you on turn 75 (IIRC he always spawns right around turn 75). Great for flavour of the game, but very tough if it's close to you. It effectively kills your ability to expand for as long as Orthus lives...
