It also means neglecting any long term planning, as by the time you're ready to sell the rules have probably been changed which had a massive impact on the economy. On the whole, if you just train something you'll end up rich in the end. If you can be arsed to buy players with that money you might end up in a high division.

That's what puts me off making any form of grand plan such as the one you're thinking of Mistfit; the likely event that hattrick will mess with the rules once again and everything will be for nought. Just as I was looking at making 13-15 million with my PM trainees that got janked and in the end was only worth 5 million.

What works is if you buy something that you can sell for a decent sum after two to three pops. Training wingers that way works for me, but unfortunately I usually forget to sell them. But buying solid wingers and selling them at excellent gets me 700k profit at least.

Not to sound crass or anything shabba but you have been playing HT since 2003 and have been in the same series since mid 2006. Is your plan working?

and by plan I mean this:

Long term goal for Shabba FC: winning the world cup

Default Season in review

Okay so I got some money from finishing first in my series and my sponsor moneys as well and it got me thinking about my first season back at HT. I decided to dig a little deeper into my finances to see how I have fared overall.

Breakdown in USD

Revenue: $2,589,565
Expenses: $2,547,799
Gain on season: $41,766

Assets not realized from season (semi-liquid assets):
Keeper 1: TC median = $925,000
Keeper 2: TC median = $576,000
Coach Trainee (might sell) = $400-500K
Semi-liquid assets: $1,950,000

Interesting to note the following:
Revenue from player sales: ~50% of income
Expenses from player purchase: ~40% of expenses

So overall I think my team worth is ± $2,000,000 higher than at the beginning of the season which is pretty decent as it is my first season. Could this have been better? Absolutely. I made some expensive mistakes in my early planning that set me back a ways but once I put a plan together I think I have righted the ship and started along a path that will give me a sustainable team and proper income to gain levels in the US.

Upward and onward!

To give you all an update on my club I have prepared the following:

I have gone against solid recommendations here to go off and try to build a team my way..

I have stopped training Keeper and moved over to Defending training for the rest of this season and likely the whole of next season.

I have pulled a couple of youth players from my own YA and will have a total of 7 home grown players 2 non-home grown (one welshman :P) and my Keeper to put in Defending Training during friendlies.

I have a 60% chance of moving to the Vth division this season and it will just be a wait and see if I can survive once I am there kind of deal.

After this coming season I plan to train a mix of PM and Defending to improve my team.

Pretty much my plan is to have a squad made up of:

7 YA trainees
1 US trainee
1 Welsh trainee
1 US keeper
1 POS back-up keeper

2-3 Forwards including a TDF that can be slotted in to take PM training when one of my guys gets injured.

I am really going to try and go lean and mean..

My YA stud is progressing along with his early training and has gotten a couple of DEF pops already so he now looks like:

Nicholas 'Easy' Rider

17 years and 23 days, TSI = 3 010
In solid form, inadequate stamina. [Head]
Has wretched experience and poor leadership.
Has divine loyalty.
Keeper: 1/20 disastrous
Defending: 6/20 passable
Playmaking: 7/20 solid
Winger: 7/20 solid
Passing: 5/20 inadequate
Scoring: 3/20 poor
Set pieces: 2/20 wretched
