The new forum bug/remark thread
Well, we managed to get a first import of data in VBulletin. Now we need to check if all is fine and solve bugs we encounter along the way. If things seem reasonably ok I hope to do a final port to VB on wednesday so we're set for the first weekend after the Col II release.
This thread can be used to post all issues you encounter on the new forum.

1) hidden fora/permission settings didn't convert
Solution: PP will reset them status: 100% 2) smilies didnt import right Due to the fact that VB imports the name and 'shortkey' of the smilies correct but screws up the smilie location. solution: manually put smilies in correct place status: 100% 3) user titles didnt import solution: rebuild them manually after import status: 100% 4) img tags in forum description (not really necessary to have images there, but oh well...) solution: clean up <s>with cleaner script</s> by hand after the move status: 100% 5) member name/avatar to the right of posts instead of above (must be a setting) solution: set postbit to legacy status: 100% 6) subforum order is screwed up solution: change display order status: 0%, will do some during trial but won't do them all till final move. Easy to fix btw 7) users that have old, inaccessible email adresses on CDZ can't get new passwords solution: keep the old forum up so people can post/PM me here shoudl they run into the problem and put up a post to start warning people to check their email adresses before we move. status: 100% 8) PM's to/from addies are switched solution: nothing much I can do about that I fear, will do a quick search run on the VB support forum but worst case we'll have to move without our old pm's status: 0% 9) avatars didnt allimport solution: will do a mass upload after the move so everybody can reset em themselves seems possible. status: 100%

Looks fantastic, way better than the current snitz-setup.
Also, funny to be able to finally see all the hidden subfora that cdz has to offer, with posts dating back from 5 years ago. However, no more running ISDG games that need to stay hidden though, I hope? I can see all when not even logged in there. If these really are all hidden fora, that is.

Hm, there are some posts in the members area that the poster(s) didn't intend to be public.
Things to fix: -img tags in forum description (not really necessary to have images there, but oh well...) -member name/avatar to the right of posts instead of above (must be a setting) -subforum order is screwed up

I have 1124 pm's on old forum here. I can probably delete some of these but some better stay. Is it possible to increase the pm number quota from default of 50 to something around 1000? I know, it sounds like it is a trashcan, but why not? Unless of course it is a big deal and would slow the new thingy down.
Also, there is no option for moderator to edit access to individual threads like sort of members only and such like it were previously. This is apparently a standard feature of all modern forum soft, including VB and IBP types, so it seems that the work load on the admins would be greatly increased. Also, I'd like to see the Civ4 ISDG forum. The game is finished after all, and it might be a nice entertainment reading unless of course there is some stuff there which you think is quite unsuitable. Of course, I'm talking about members only access or let in just me alone. Must admit, that the same forum at CFR is permanently closed and will never be available to the public at least not until the game ends.

I can adjust the number of PM's allowed. FOr testing sake I upped it to 500 now but I can pretty much enter anything we like. So no need to clean up your PM boxes, I'll adjust the number because the database must be able to handle that easily.
INteresting stuff: King of PM is BCLG with 1500+ messages! Congrats BCLG! CDZ PM Top 5 1) 1526 msg - BCLG 2) 1270 msg - Beam 3) 1133 msg - ProPain 4) 1124 msg - akots 5) 920 msg - anarres (his ghost still hunts our pm/postcounts )
