I'm already used to the new logo, couldn't live without it. It seems as if the new site will have place for a banner over the whole width of the page. The yellow letters stand out too much for my taste.

do you know the size of the thing? how big it would need to be to travel across the whole thing?

I think the forum pages adjust themselves to the width of your own screen. On my laptop the screen just fills out the 1680 pixels.
I do think the white border on the left ha s fixed width however. Could you add a little grey/lightblue to the left of the pic to have it line out with the forum borders?

well, no expert in the VB control panel yet cause the damn thing has a truckload of options. So: can I center it? I can't, but that doesnt mean it isnt possible.
