He's Ethiopia so as far as I'm concerned, unless I pull a good vulture rush early on, he has a traits+UU advantage on me.
Oromos are strong drill muskets, which carry the drill gene up the rifle pool. Organised is also much stronger, in the long run, than protective. I prefer my UB though. Earlier cheaper maintenance beater. Oh wait!! He's organized, so his court is EVEN cheaper I'll take the bet on my side as well though

I got a nice long river, one lux, good food in the capital: it'll be my long term plan for a super GP farm (nota: corn is off limits though). I'll try and get GLib in there ASAP. Right now though, I plan on mining the pig hill and cottaging the corn. First mistake is already made: this is an advanced start game, so we both could pick our exact location for the capital and be happy about it forever after. My mistake was not to put a farm on my corn from the get go. More food would have been more goodness. Oh well. I got a warrior and scouts out of that mistake so it's all good. Got 3 huts so far: scout x3. Normally I'd be unhappy about it but knowing the land early on can be very valuable. Especially when you plan to rely on vultures.

First rival met: Bella
For sure, yes! She's got Buddhism already, I'll try and hop on that bandwagon ASAP. The scouts jumped my rank to 1 (just got a 4th one already), but I'm mitigated in demographics, in good part because I'm not working cash tiles a lot. I did pop AH from a hut though so it makes up for some of the research deficit and it also suggests that I could pasture my pigs. I'm pondering over getting redunculous amounts of food or balancing it out a bit. Either way, corn gets a cottage. Got horses down there with the rice. There'll be a city there soon.
