Rowing boats seam to be quite cheap these days and very friendly to the environment.

Well it's not that expensive, I was able to find Montreal-Brussels for 640CAD (Montreal- Amsterdam was 1200 CAD). Unfortunatly, I would have to take 3 days off in a realy bad time for my project.
