Q1: Because now Sumer can have a bit of production.
Q2: Because again I used the mountain square instead of the wheat because I thought it couldn't grow beyond 6 anyway. Besides, Ur has such a huge growth, it's back at 6 in four turns, if I wasn't building a worker.

But about Sumer you might be right if you say that it should've been close to the flood plains.

Sumer : You're right about the production, although in the long run (after chopping jungle) the hill would have been better in the short run it will produce more in it's current location

Ur: Ah yes, you missed the river , that explains.

Got it. Did a testrun yesterday which is at 310AD now:
- Next tech is Inv. or Theo. thanks to the Great Lib
- 18 cities
- One AI eliminated
- 3 Swordies, 16 Pikes, 11 Knights (3 of them in an Army , 9 Meds and an Enkidu.
- Number one in all relevant F11 catagories, apart from Productivity being 2nd.
- No walls or cats build.

At this stage it is key to keep on building Meds for home defense because they are much cheaper to build compared to Knights (40 vs 70 shields).

T35:
Change Ur > Settler.

T40:
Settler > W with an EW.

T43:
Kish founded.

T44:
Settler > S with an EW.

T46:
Iron Working. Iron is on the mountain next to the cap! Alpha is next.

T47:
Umma founded.

T54:
Alpha > Writing

T55:
End of my 20 turns. No AI met yet.
A settler is in position next to wines, game and tobacco. Excellent settling spot.
Lagash and Sumer are at prebuilds for Swordies once the iron is connected.
We will need a lot of workers to clean up jungle, there are 6 in place now.

Good luck Tarly! We need a good Colonel now as I expect contact in the upcoming turns.

All edited manually, Tarly. (cutting & pasting, resizing and drawing) But I've gotten quite handy at editing pictures, so it didn't take long.

Doesn't it spoil the game if you tell us the results?

Got it,will play either tomorrow (Sunday) or Monday.
I'll have a look at the save and post any questions or comments.Getting to turn 55 without meeting any opposition is a fair stroke of luck.

I've had a look at the save.Where to put the next settler?
Tech path?Go for monarchy ASAP or Philo for bonus tech?
All our units are regulars,we'll need some Rax.
The general consensus is no need for walls and cats only later.I don't like it but i'll go along with it.
Was the test run that you did,Beam,on this game or another scenario?
Kish seems to be the best bet for pre-build for G.L.Build that city up,soonest.
The civ to our north is probably the egyptians,only one of the AI in our game to be yellow.
If I can only hold off meeting them untill writing comes in,I'll probably be able to do some trading.
We'll have 2 lux plus iron,that's an excellent start.

Always War Sumeria 1625 B.C.
My main problem is not to trigger our golden age.I'll build some regular archers,this goes against the grain as I dislike reg troops but we need a couple of offesive troops in our front line cities.
I.T.
Move Inky E. see hut & delta.
Stop worker on hill as I believe that the extra shield won't cut in untill monarchy.Correct me if I'm wrong.

Turn 1. 1600 B.C.
Ur Settler->Rax.
Take archer/settler E.
I do not pop the hut.If I get nasties it might trigger our G.A.
Build Bad-Tibira by wines,set to archer.Archers are cheaper than swords and I might need them soon.
Writing in 9 @ -1gpt.

I.T.
Umma Worker->archer.
Settler pair sent east to inky,by hut.
Elaphantine now visible but no contact.I'll keep it that way.
Move inky from Lagash to Ur as temp.M.P.

Turn 2. 1550 B.C.
Kish Inky->sword.
Theodora's Tart (Reg warrior) pops out of the blue and pops hut.No barbs.
She has Masonry and C.B but won't trade,she offers 10G for pottery,she can get stuffed,which she probably does often.
War is declared,our first enemy,still no sign of Cleo.By now I expect some warfare between the A.I.
R.Archer v R Warrior W.-1 HP.
Settler pair to Delta.
Change Lagash to Sword as iron is connected.
Change Sumer to Inky for M.P.

I.T.
Nuffink.

Turn 3. 1525 B.C.
Build Agade at delta.set to archer.

I.T.
Sumer inky->archer.

Turn 4. 1500.B.C.
writing in 3 @ -1gpt.
Ur employ scientist,size 6.
The Bizy tarts came from the north.

I.T.
Ur Rax->sword.

Turn 5 1475.B.C.
Lagash reg sword->Rax.
19 units,28 allowed.
writing in 2 @ +11gpt.

I.T.
Nowt.

Turn 6 1450 B.C.
3 workers to wines covered by inky.

I.T.
writing comes in.

Turn 7. 1425 B.C.
Philo in 6 @ 0gpt.
Wines hooked up,Ur's scientist is fired and told to do something usefull.

I.T.
Nuffink.

Turn 8
Nowt.Still no Cleo or Tarts from Theodora.

Ur Sword,our first veteran,that'll come in handy.->settler.
2 tarts turn up N.W of Agade.Move vet sword to hill by Sumer.I think they're after our workers by Sumer.I'll leave 'em there as bait.I don't want to attack across a river if I can help it.

I.T.
Tarts advance.

Turn 9. 1375 B.C.
Move both workers to Sumer.I don't want to cover them with an inky as that will trigger our G.A.It is a challenge,trying not to use our best defensive units and it's all tour fault,P.P.

I.T.
Bad-Tibira Archer->Rax.

Turn 10. 1350 B.C.
Both Tarts can now attack Agade.
Reg Archer across river v R.Tart W 0 hp.
Vet sword to Agade,now top defender.If Tart attacks it won't trigger our GA.
Scientist in Ur.
Philo in 3 @ +4gpt.

I.T
Tart fortifies.That won't help him when my mighty vet sword has a go at him

Turn 11. 1325 B.C.
Vet sword v Big girls blouse W 0hp.
Seems the Byzantines will target Agade/Sumer.We need offensive troops here.
Philo in 2 @ +9gpt.
I.T.
Ur settler->sword in 4.
Kish archer -> Rax.
Move V sword N. to have a shufti.

Turn 12 1300 B.C.
Settler and inky go S.W.
Philo in 2 @ +16 gpt.

I.T.
Lagash Rax->sword.
Umma archer-> Rax.
2 more tarts turn up to the north by my exploring V.sword.

Turn 13 1275 B.C.
I've no choice but to hit the Tarts,if I leg it they'll have Agade at their mercy.
V sword v Reg old Tart W 0hp,promote to elite,how nice.

I.T.
Philo comes in,pick Lit,we get it free,ain't that just peachy?
No S.G.L...what a shame.
C.B in 4 @ +17gpt.
Sumer archer->rax.

Turn 14. 1250 B.C.
Elite sword v fortified Tart W -0hp.
see 1 tart to the N. of sword.
Still Cleo,no show and that's the way I like it,uh-uh.

I.T.
Tart comes south.

Turn 15. 1225 B.C.
Elite super sword V Silly old Tart W -1hp.Time to leg it back to Agarde to heal.

It's all yours,Propain,don't fuck it up.Keeping out of our G.A.is a bit of a fine art.I know you can handle it.
