Default Spearman beats tank, the Colonization edition

No spearmen nor tanks in col2, yet yesterday I almost saw the unthinkable: an unarmed colonist defeating my dragoon.

Seriously.

What.

The.

Fuck.

That colonist defeating my warmachine with what, his smelly clothes? Luckily my dragoon won, with 0.1 hp left. The worst part? Not actually capturing the unit... I'm not sure if I like col2 more than col1.

Oh:

RTFM. If there is only one colonist in the open field, it is never captured. The unit defending is always killed (if losing), only other colonists in the same tile are captured.

Which is different from Col I.

Check the combat log, Shabbaman. If your chances were indeed around 99% than that was just sheer bad luck, which happens as well as good luck (but that we never remember). If it was significantly lower, I'm interested to know which units had which bonuses.

RTFM? RTFM? I'm not saying that I'm expecting to capture a unit, I'm ranting that I'm not capturing a unit. This is not the remake it's claimed to be. Unit demotion was brilliant in col1.

@matrix: if you look at the combat odds I think it's not that weird that you nearly loose a dragoon if you attack a colonist: a dragoon is 4 power (?) and a colonist 1 power. I only found out that a colonist had any power at all after blindly attacking it. I must say that I was quite surprised.

I guess your Dragoon suffered from an overconfident event.
