Turn 13: spotted a hut, didn't pop it since my capitol is undefended, and pretty close... 2 turns to granary, 2 turns to size 4.

Turn 15: completed granary, city grew to size 4. Currently building settler, if anyone thinks that I should build something different, let me know!

Oh yeah, I researched bronze working, currently researching iron. I decided v.s. philo gambit, since I didn't start with alphabet.
Still no contacts...

IIRC city growth is applied before the construction of a unit or building. This means your granary is empty (Or did they change that in C3C?). Did you do that on purpose?

Well, I didn't have much of a choice. It's bad timing, but I used the most productive tiles to get a granary asap.

Turn 19: build settler, moved north. I'm thinking of settling east of the cow or east of the elephant. What are your thoughts?

Definitely east of the cow!! You get a river there, and are only sharing 2 tiles with the capital, and are the "magic" 3 tiles away for easy troop movement...

Turn 22: settled east of the cow. Funny, didn't read anarres' post before, glad we agree

Bumhole is building a warrior, the other one is scouting.

Turn 26: Luckily, matrix reverted to version 1.15 so we could continue this game. I discovered Rome 6 tiles north of Bumhole.
