Also, I have not had any problem farming for the first prophet early on (food in very seldom an issue on Erebus maps with Agrarian civic and especially after Sanitation) and by the time the early religions are founded (FoL, RoK, OO), usually there are only a couple of cities and no trade routes to spread religion on Erebus map. So yes, a shrine you can build but I would always try to put GProphet to Lunnotaur temple instead to get bonuses for disciple units and to acquire more room for priest specialists. So, if you want a shrine, that actually might be a critical mistake under some circumstances.

Also, to get a great person you need either to have some considerable cash (about 75 g) or have a very lucky run with a layer or goblin fortress with a scout or hunter (have not seen any great people or anything useful coming out of layer with warriors). And it usually pays back. In one game, I popped 3 techs from the huts (Ancient Chants, Fishing, and Mining) but then due to negligience in scouting around the borders a barbarian city popped up and at the very same turn Asheron appeared in it and this is not something you can live with especially when it is obscuring your third city spot. And that dragon horde makes massive amounts of culture so all your borders are basically screwed. To add to the insult, you need cats and courage spell of mind mana to kill the beast and an awful lot of hunters/axemen (better champions but these will show up only later).

I'd say that worst imbalancing factor is when the counter advances and Infernal appear near your borders (Hyborem is really hard to kill because of Immortal promotion) and if you are neutral, hell terrain kicks in and screws up all improvements. Then, the riders (starting from Stephanos and continuing with Barbaros and Co.) are really impossible to kill unless done rapidly, preferrably immediately after they appear or otherwise they gain supporters and experience at impossible rate. Again, one needs courage and cats for that. So, yes, it is a gamble a bit but you get Crown of Command as a reward and this is not a minor thing to have.

Also, Kael and Co. are constantly fixing stuff and straighthening the balance. In any case, we can play a scenario. Momus sounds like great fun when the war and peace are declared at random by Perpentach although it is too centered towards Lanun and I'm not sure if Balseraphs can be switched from AI still keeping the script on.
Perhaps you are right. I still have very little experience with this mod...

I've played the Momus scenario though. It is very, very annoying (IMHO) The switch-on / switch-off war thing sounds very intrigueing, but it's actually very annoying to play with...

Hey, that is part of the fun, nothing goes like you want and planned.

There are a few exploits in Momus though. You still can declare war with tsunami spell IIRC (OO priest has it). Also, first war is declared against someone who has the highest score and it ends with everyone at war with everyone.

Is this kind of like the Rise and Rule Mod from C3C? That mod gave me an additional 6-12 months out of civ3?
I may have to look at this mod.

You know, if Govannon didn't come so late in the game he'd be seriously overpowered.
I'm playing a game as the Amurites now, and even though Govannon has only strength 5, he is perhaps the best hero in the game. This "teach spellcasting ability" he has really rocks. I let him get the standard 100xp over time that all heroes get, then I cast Amurite worldspell "Arcane Lacuna" for 20 more xp. Next I completed the "Birthright Regained" and cast "Arcane Lacuna" again for 24 more xp. Now Govannon has taught all my units 9-10 level 1 spells. It's a huge advantage if your champions can cast "loyalty", "courage", "blur" and "haste" , etc. without help from arcane units. Not to mention the great help the easy access to level 2 spells for wizards is if Govannon teaches them before they start using their own promotions...

Best mod ever, IMHO...

Just a pair of screenshots from this amazing mod!

I know it's overkill in this game 'cause this one was probably won about 200-250 turns ago, but since they look so damn cute...

2 dragons on a leash.

God casting a serious shadow...

Stuff like that would almost make Marianne play Civ.

I remember I played the Age of Ice scenario and such a dragon appeared (which is very bad news!).
I attacked it with a couple of mammoths on which Marianne replied: "Don't kill it!! "

Funny this one is bumped. Played the Age of Ice scenario for a bit last week. Was planning to download the whole mod cause it seems amazingly good. Planning to take it on holiday

I never played age of ice, but in this version (age of shadow, IIRC) it's a really bad sign if Acheron (the red dragon) appears. He's a barbarian dragon and he basically blocks all expansion in the direction of the city he is in. Fortunately I was able to capture him (eventually). The white dragon (Drifa) is my own unique unit playing as the Illians. Very nice unit, if a bit expensive to build.

I really like this mod. In fact, I haven't played regular CIV since the end of RTW2 because this mod is just more fun for me right now.

Really complex mod, with loads of different things happening every game.
