This is getting very lairy.
Conquistadors have shown up,they can range as far as Kish,they've already knocked off 1 MDI that was well inside our territory.
We now have 5 armies and 20 cities.
I've raized 1 Egyptian city and 3 Byzantine.Looted 1490 gold.The armies are returning to heal.
watch numid by Isin.
Here is the save in case you want to play,Banzai,I'll write it up manyana.
There are some slaves under 1 army.
All in all we're constantly short of units.
Our Saltpeter has been pillaged and the other one migrated,workers are on the job beneath army.

Looking at the turn, and I'm still very positive. Good job Col. T. Just watch out for ear damage with that fan so close to your head.

* Just to be clear my remark about obsolote unit armies being attacked had nothing to do with my decision to build a defensive army. That defensive army was build to protect Bad Tib from a knight attack.
* I agree MI armies are very usefull, however we should realise they have one drawback: you lose an attack opportunity. When you have 3 separate MI's you have 3 attack possibiilties, 3 MI in an army have only 2 attack opportunities. We now have very little MI on the western & southern fronts. I think we should build some more MI to be able to defend effectively. Maybe we can use some of the cash to rush some. I think we should hold of filling an army should we get another leader quick (we should turn ldr into army of course to leave more ldr options open) untill we have enough troops.
* Those conquistadores are a real pain in the ass. I think we should send the defensive army to spain asap and pillage their iron/horses and/or pillage the roads to their capital to prevent trading. What's the smartest to do depends on the situation in Spain. We should be able to make a good judgement after roaming around there a bit.
* After pillaging I think we should use the defensive army to chart the lands. Atm we know very little about our surroundings and knowing how AI territories are shaped, where resources are and where coastal lines & choke points are can make our life so much easier.

Good job Tarly for getting all that cash!
We'll need it for rushing and upgrading.
Those conquistadores sure are a pita. I have 2 possible sollutions for it:
1. Make sure Spain can no longer produce them.
2. Make sure they can do little harm.
The first will be pretty difficult to do, but I'll try.
The second requires covering of exposed units by muskets. Easy if we have enough muskets.

I have not yet looked at the save, but from what I've read here I can say the following:
We have 5 armies.. 1 defensive and 4 offensive and are short on medieval infantry.
The defensive army should be used for scouting and pillaging. Therefore I want to send it into Spain. Maybe I can get rid of the conquistadores!
2 offensive armies will defend our northern front against Byzantines, Carthage and Egypt.
1 offensive army will defend the southern front against Iroquois and Celts.
1 offensive army will defend the western front against Spain and France.

In the mean time I try to produce as many medieval infantry and muskets as possible to replenish and protect our forces.
I doubt I will be able to launch another offensive soon, but maybe I can make the necessary preparations for ProPain

2 knights come out of the fog and redline our army.Close shave.Scratch 2 Iraqi knights.
Turn 1 860 AD.
2 settlers started and the usual mayhem,I won't detail the battles.
Tech to zero for money for upgrades.
IT.
Ur builds the Pentagon.
Turn 2. 870 AD.
Up grading pikes as cash allows,they cost 90G each.
Placing extra MI's in armies.
IT.
The luvly Theodora wants peace but has 9200 gold in the bank and BB wants it.
Turn 3.
MI kills LB. Great leader.
We don't have enough cities for another army so I set out to build 2 more.
IT.
The usual carnage.
Turn 4.2 Armies (4MDI) move on Egyptian city of El Amarna,kills 2 muskets + 1 galley and raizes city.10/18 and 17/18.
IT no attacks.

Turn 5. 900AD.
Army takes out spear in Byzantium city of Trebizond.453G looted.city raized.
5 pikes upgraded.450G.
IT,nothing much.
I'll post this in case something goes wrong.

Nothing much.
IT.
The same.
turn 7 920 AD.
Kutha founded-walls.
Army kills Egyptian Musket/settler pair,2 slaves.
Nagsu founded.-walls.
Lugalbanda builds army.

IT.
nothing much.

Turn 8. 930 AD.
Our glorious armies assault the Byz city of Naissus.
2 muskets killed and 513G looted.I love it.
Walls rushed in Kutha-76 G.
Chemistry in 11 @-37GPT.
Lots of punch-ups.
IT.
The same.

Turn 9. 940 AD.
The usual carnage.

IT.
Bloody hell our saltpeter is pillaged and our 2nd source had gone walk-about.I hadn't noticed.
Knight kills 2 workers.I'm in a spot of bovver,here.

Turn 10. 950 AD.
getting some workers up to reconnect our saltpeter.
the usual battles.

IT.
Enter the conquistadors.
They range far inland and cause some bovver.They can get as far as Kish so keep that city well defended and anything west of that line is unsafe.

Turn 11, 960 AD.
decide to take the 2 wounded armies back to heal but Theo plants a city ,right in my path.
Exit Dyrrachium with 2 muskets and 521 gold.
We are hurting for units and still need horses,obviously.As PP said,A horse,a horse,my kingdom for a horse.
Go pillaging,young man and rip off poor old Theo for all the gold you can plunder.

Here are the stats,not too good but as PP found out we're fighting much stronger units.
We killed:-
19 knights.
13 MI.
2 crusaders.
10 Long bows.
3 spears.
2 ancient cavalry
10 musketmen.
2 numidian mercenaries
3 conquisatadors.

they killed:-
2 musketmen.
4 pikes.
5 MI.
64 to 11.roughly 6 to 1.
This reflects the calibre of our foes military.

Good news and bad news.

The bad news first:
- We are broke
- Had to lower science rate to keep a possitive cash flow
- We lost our entire navy
- Did not locate horses

The good news:
- Razed another Byzantine town
- Located Byzantine capital, pillaged part of its territory and rid them from ivory
- Reinforced the millitary
- Have a millitary great leader waiting to do good things
- Got a 10 to 1 kill ratio (approximately.. still have to make the final calculations)
- Finally managed to free the defensive army and sent it into Spain

Full report and save will follow later today / tonight
