Sorry for that!
Because of the golden age I didn't realise we were paying so much gold on unit costs and used our income to keep the science high. I noticed it in turn 7 or 8 and that was too late to make any significant changes (besides disbanding lots of troops - which I did not do).

I hope that with a city at the furs we do not need so many units for military police so we can send a large force to our enemies.
When on the offensive we will lose more troops, but with a force like this we will be able to land quite a punch..
Hopefully you can enjoy the combat!

I understand your frustration,Beam,but in my turns I had no less than 8 separate cities targetted.We have the wrong shaped civ for AW.Many units had to be built to hold off the AI.
What surprises me is that we haven't generated a M.G.as yet.When we get a couple of armies we can pillage.
In the mean time,do what you can.

Be sure I've done everything to get a MGL Tarly.

The main factors hindering us is the shitty terrain requiring many many workers to improve a tile and the central position on the map with civs on all sides.

The Civ itself isn't a real issue imo, we have a tech lead and therefore should be able to produce superior units easily and early. Right now I can't upgrade however because of the cash position. As a matter of fact I'm almost happy losing a cheap unit cause it means less gpt.

Nevertheless, here is the sav at it's current state. Right time to have some discussion how to move on.

Just got a look at the save..
Here is the map:

It looks like we are a bit short on offensive millitary units at the northern front
The elite archer at Sumer is about to die to the NuMerc unless we can cover him or kill the NuMerc.
We do have a sword in Ur, but we will probably lose both units if we attack.
Move at least the med inf at Isin straight north to assist at the front.

On the southern front found the city on the spot (north of the ruins) and use the two celtic slaves to build a road north to connect the city.
All units in the area should enter the new city and heal.
We have only one pike down there, but Bad-tibira at the west has some enkidu available. We should send at least one to defend the new city.
I think we need another pike to defend our offensive southern forces before attacking the eastern Celtic city Burdigxxxx

The new city and the marketplaces due to finish will greatly increase our income.. i hope
Maybe we can do a single scientist research?

Thats all I can think of at this moment..

I'll try to take it tomorrow,friday 25th june.
Without armies,we're kinda stuffed.270 A.D. and no MGL and plenty of elite victories,seems that the RNG is giving us stick.Once the MGL's start coming,they usually come in squads.I'll build an army,get a victory and then build or rush the heroic epic.Apart from that it will be steady as she goes,batten down all hatches and prepare to submerge.
I'll try to follow your advice ,Banzai.

Pre turn. Basically,the strategic situation is very dodgy,most of our cities are in the front line and therefore need defending,making for a high troop cost.The AI menace is growing,we need an army,heroic epic and horses,desperately.
However,it ain't over 'til the fat lady sings,not that I ever go to the opera.8 pints and a sing- song down the pub is my idea of culture.
There are more AI nasties on our northern front than you can shake a stick at.Trouble at mill,lads.

I don't attack on the pre-turn and hope for no pillaging.Ur given scientist.
