National Cup Season 33 - Round 6
I am opening this thread a day early because I need your advice.
I am playing a strong div IV team (519387) It's the first time, I am playing in round 6. In the league I won't be promoting nor demoting. So, my question is: What do you think, my opponent will field? Do you think he might be slightly afraid of what I fielded last week in the cup and go all out? Or do you think he will mostly look at my strong defense ratings from saturday and will use less midfield and stronger attack sides? Or do you think he'll expect me to go all out and win the midfield (my ratings were so far not better than his midfield this season) and play defensively? I am thinking about going all out and MOTSing which sould give me a titanic midfield or even more. But that would only work if he is not playing defensively... Or should I play defensively (maybe trying to buy one more defense player)? But than my defense won't be good enough to have a chance of winning just limiting the loss. BTW, my team has ID 524416. And, I don't care about training this week. If I advance, that is another 320 K, which is far more han I could get with a week of training. Thanks in advance!

I would guess that he would field a lineup like that in his first league match. I get the impression that a lot of managers base what they will play on the lineup the opposing team plays in cup, rather than in league. He does seem to be a rather attentive manager though, so it is difficult to decide what sort of lineup he will play. But if I were in your shoes, I would probably prioritize attack first, then midfield, in expectation of him playing a more defensive lineup. I do not really know what your team is capable of though.

If he is attentive, buy a deffensive guy but go all out in the midfield.
Sell the player after the game.

IMO, it would all depend on how he is doing in the league. If he has a chance of taking the league (which he does not seem to be but I really just glanced), he might try to focus both on the cup and on the league and would try to field something with a decent chance against you (something against your potentially titanic midfield). If he is doing not so well in the league, he would try to prioritize the cup and would try to win by all means. I'm not sure how one can counter titanic midfield except with a reasonable counterattack. So, if he plays that, you can counter that with better attack exceeding his defense or some other way just making sure you can still own more than 65-70% of possession.

OK, thanks for the input. I have thought a lot and you are right that I shouldn't ignore attack ratings altogether. So I decided to go all out, except for one really strong wing with an off W. and an off WB. I decided to MOTS as I also fear that he might focus more on the cup then on the league. But I have nothing really to lose as I won't become better than 4th or 5th anyway in my league.
I hope that my midfield is close to titanic and I hope that one strong side is enough if he plays CA ( which I don't really think)

3-3 after 90 minutes.
Lost 3-4 after extra time. Was lucky that he lost 2 midfielders to injuries but it still wasn't enough. Very exciting... Sadly, it was not sold out, but it still was almost 300 K.

Snaken made it into round 7 for the 2nd time in a row, via a close 3-5 away win.
