I think 2x2 is set up as AW. The main difference is that with a research partner both can research the same tech and cut the research time in half.

Are we going for an early start as well? just because it would be unfortunate for someone to get an anceint age civ without a UU. are we going to play with barbs on?

Hm, in second thought I do have a slight preference. First of all I'm already playing a PBEM on a "wheel" map, so anything but that please. Secondly, the earlier the better. Classical or Medieval era instead of Ancient is ok, but not much later please.

And in case you're wondering "Hey, I thought that dude was gone?!": I'm with my parents who don't have Civ4.

ok so whats your ideas on the other type of map we can play? i'd say plains but wasnt the last GOTM plains

Just start a new PBEM and see what happens/what options you have. That's what I do when learning something new.

But I might as well to start it, if you like.

But shouldn't we choose our civs first? We could also choose random.
Otherwise I'd like Kublai Khan.
