Default KoD 4 - Finding Nemo ** spoiler **

Decided to start the game as it's too hot to do something serious

the start
the start screen is posted in the KoD thread. I decided to move the scouts on the hills. The plan: founding washington on the W hill, taking advantage of the gold hill. 1 worker will move on the cow, other start immediate chopping of spice (Nemo food) forest. I'm gonna go granary first. usually I'd like to have 1 or 3 more scouts but the environment is so food rich I;m gonna go farmer and hope I'll outexpand everybody.

3450 bc
Met the ottos, traded pottery for 20 gold to keep up the high research rate.
Get a settler from a hut. I ponder where to settle, deciding between the 2 gold hills NE of Washington. It's gonna be the closest one (longest walk) because of the reduced distance (less corruption) and so I can settle SW,SW,SW withmy first homrgrown settler. That will take advantage of a grass+wheat covered by the minimap.

Found New York, met Persians, traded pottery for 20 gold and BW.

Meet the Gerries, the also lack pottery and trade me a worker for it. Best free tech ever imo.

2850 BC
in the middle of an extensive MM to get max food out of second irrigated cow. Found Boston

2670 bc
Found Philadelphia, discover alpha. Also have met the egyptians in the meantime. Trade Alpha around to everybody except the ottos who already own it. Get CB, WC, The Wheel and 2 workers for it. Tech par again, go for writing, need only 26 turns! I'm 1 in pop, mfg gds and GNP, fam size, productivity and several other, not very important categories. no horses in sight! closest ones are all the way to the ottos! I feel a war coming up!

2550 BC
In an intricate MM scheme I;ve managed to get 1 warrior and a settler out of Washington every 4 turns and using the second irrigated cow 2 turns for washington and 2 turns for New York. I;m starting at 10 shields, 4 food (warrior) switching to 9 shields 6 food (settler), 11 shields, 6 food settler, 11 shields, 4 food settler netting some extra income from the Nemo food.

2470 BC
Atlanta founded. I'm now city par with allknown AI's and I know everybody except the french.

1000bc - the Osman war
A small jump to 1000BC. I've doing quite well on the tech front and have had a monopoly on currency around 1225 bc. Therefore I'm still way ahead techwise on most civs except the otto's. And guess who shows up at my doorstep.....Osman

204.64KB

I lose Baltimore and I'm forced to drag units from all over the place to defend myself. I drag in most other civs for techs In 800 bc I finish the Statueof Zeus, which helps a lot as I lack horses and iron.

oh, and this is why I didnt see Nemo, he's in the 6 tiles that are stilli nthe fow

The Ottoman war ends around 350-300bc. I refound Baltimore (npow called cincinnati) and have concurred Hieranconpolis whoch the egyptians lost to the Otto's. Here's a screenie from 310BC, I;ve also discovered the french.

Final phase
After the war a phase of build-up starts. Mainly because I thought I needed the troops to stage an invasion to the french island. FInally it turns out Nemo is in Japan. Should have known the little rascal would try and hide between his Koi friends.

Here's how the world and my army look in 110AD

After this it was all very easy. RoP with Egypt, moved troops towrds Japan, took Satsuma. Here's a 400AD pic from Satsuma which has been in possession for about 11 - 13 turns I guess (has 51 culture). I rushed a lib and temple to get Nemo in my borders.

And finally the Aquarium is finished.
