Default BDF Noob Cup

As Wartham try to go as far as possible against similar opposition.

After getting some poor hatstats ratings for most of last season Wartham found themselves in the intermediate cup (2 of 3) and ranked 7th out of the 16 teams. The prize for winning, 6 months supporter, so something worth battling for. The fixtures for the first round are: (These may continue to change as teams get replaced for ineligability)

II 16 (Seeds 17-32)
MATCHID (Seed) TN Manager Team Name V TN Team Name Manager (Seed)

2a ® Mohansa Krampekameratene V 12 MooseDeuce MooseDeuces (17)
2b (31) 11 inspoes Alqualondë Kinslayers V 64 atkins99 Atkins FC ®
2c (30) 1 Ally_Mccoist Inverkip United V 59 Pecos Pecos' (19)
2d (29) 8 flybynight h00ligans V 62 Philly_Bluenose Philly Bluenose (20)
2e (28) 57 psykokow Gorjuss FC V 63 paulbee1 Keswick Bees (21)
2f (27) 33 Johnny99 G-String HFC V 14 Parania Arianara (22)
2g (26) 48 dozenkai fc bolds V 22 tian_xia_wu_di Spider Warriors (23)
2h (25) 29 porter Homer Hawks V 3 Dell19 Wartham Utd (24)

Wartham play against a replacement team, Homer Hawks, in the first round. We are the away team since we have the higher hatstats average for last season and we should win this first round cup game comfortably considering that a reserve team has lately pulled significantly higher ratings than his first team and that we can usually have a wretched(+) midfield in our reserve team.

The game will kick off at midnight on wednesday so I probably won't watch it.

Yep you're right, when I looked for the ranking I was looking at another thread that hadn't been updated. The big problem match will be in the second round against Spider Warriors as apparently I will be the away team which will make things difficult. One bonus will be that I will be playing my best striker in that friendly because he got suspended on sunday.

MatchID: 37664208
Arena: The Hawks Nest
Crowd: 704

704 spectators arrived at The Hawks Nest, where weather conditions were pretty good for football. Homer tactics involved an interesting 5-3-2 combination. Lineup: Whalen - Brady, Eren, Ring, Ramsay, Kemp - Hartley, Arnau, Dean - Larios, Laguia.

Wartham tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. The following players had been chosen: Gray - Budd, Mason, Edwards - Crook, Singh, MacSweeney, Mika - Hammond, Kneale, Rowan.

Homer clearly had decided to counter-attack when they could, using their talent for it. Wartham seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. Seemingly due to lack of experience, Ove Eren needlessly tripped an opponent just outside the penalty area, but the free kick that followed didn't succeed. The terraces were silenced in the 25:th minute as Wartham´s Paul Hammond put the guests ahead 0 - 1, following an attack from the right. Wartham´s George Crook received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 29:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 2. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. The visitors Max Mason took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 34:th minute. 0 - 3 for Wartham. The structure of the game started to change as Wartham decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. After 40 minutes of game time Paul Hammond received an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Cory Whalen was in the right place, tipping the ball to a corner. The visitors Quintin Mika took advantage of an error due to a misunderstanding between the home side´s goalie and central backs in the 40:th minute. 0 - 4 for Wartham. The teams went for a half-time break at 0 - 4. Wartham, bringing the final ball possession rate to 83 percent, dominated the battle.

After 48 minutes of game time Richard Budd received an excellent opportunity to add to the visitors lead, clipping a volley hooked in from the right, but Cory Whalen was in the right place, tipping the ball to a corner. In the games 63rd minute Homer´s Scotty Ramsay fell dramatically just outside the penalty area. However, the referee booked Scotty Ramsay for taking a dive. Wartham´s Max Mason received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 69:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 5. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. Homer will have to do without Andres Larios for a time due to a bad foot injury. He was substituted by Alex Maloney. Wartham´s Tony Rowan received a play slashing through the home side´s defense in the 85:th minute, chipping it past the keeper scoring 0 - 6. The home crowd was not pleased with that one. After 86 minutes a combination in the middle resulted in a through ball for Richard Budd who increased Wartham´s lead to 0 - 7. Wartham, bringing the final ball possession rate to 94 percent, dominated the battle.

The most dominating Homer player was without a doubt Beau Brady. José María Laguia was a disappointment, however. The most dominating Wartham player was without a doubt Allen Gray. Tony Rowan on the other hand, had a terrible day. The match ends 0 - 7.
The final stats being:

If anyone cares to have a look at my second round clash, should I play my normal friendly midfield and get a wretched(+) midfield or play Laporte in the lineup and get a poor(-)? He could well play counter attack using a 4-3-3 so it may be best to only slightly win the midfield and hope that Guy Smets who was suspended from my league game on sunday will win the game for us.

A scorching day at Wartham United Arena, where 1662 spectators were in place for today´s match. Wartham tactics involved an interesting 3-4-3 combination. They fielded: Gray - Budd, Mason, Edwards - Crook, Singh, MacSweeney, Mika - Hammond, Rowan, Smets.

bolds started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. The following players had been chosen: van Wanrooy - Esselink, Bowden, Estévez - Hoekstra, Dirkx, van Tooren, Schmohl - Stolwijk, van Iersel, Knot.

Wartham seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. bolds seemed to prefer attacking in the middle. In the games 3rd minute Julio César Estévez almost gave the visitors the lead, as he clipped a spectacular scissors shot just past the bar. bolds seemed to suffer a certain amount of confusion and were down to the passable level of organisation. After a fine move down the middle Danny MacSweeney nearly gave the home side one up in the 28:th minute. The finishing shot went just wide, though. Wartham's Richard Budd got himself booked after a foul. Due to a severely mistimed tackle, Florian van Wanrooy spent some time on the grass writhing in agony before he could get up and continue the game. Wartham tried to break through in the middle repeatedly, but kept getting stuck on the visitors defenders. 0 - 0 was the half-time score. Wartham held the ball, with a clear 53 percent possession rate.

The bolds players spent the half-time break getting a rerun of the teams tactical organization and regained a solid organisation. Frans Hoekstra came close to putting the visiting team one up in the 48:th minute, following a solo raid down the middle, but Allen Gray managed to tip the ball to a corner. Guy Smets gave his Wartham the lead with 1 - 0, as he successfully challenged both the guests central defenders, then placed the ball unreachably at the goaltenders right post. In the 68th minute, bolds's Paulo Esselink received a yellow card for going into a challenge studs first. After 75 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Richard Budd might have resulted in another goal for Wartham. However, Florian van Wanrooy made a spectacular save. In the 76:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Quintin Mika dashed through, knocking home 2 - 0 for Wartham. 77 minutes into the game Allen Gray had to leave the pitch due to a knee injury. In came Blake Russell. bolds nearly produced a goal as Young Bowden set up Frans Hoekstra for a strike from a seemingly impossible angle. The receiver wasn´t as clear-headed though, and put the shot wide. bolds showed some good morale and were, in the 80:th minute, able to reduce the score to 2 - 1 as Yohan Knot got past the home sides full backs straight in front of the goal. Wartham's Guy Smets got himself booked after a foul. This part of the game had been a standoff between the teams.

Wartham´s best player was Guy Smets. However, Blake Russell made a disastrous appearance. Most important bolds player was Young Bowden. Florian van Wanrooy was a disappointment, however. The match ends 2 - 1.

Arena: The Red Terror Arena
Crowd: 2078

A scorching day at The Red Terror Arena, where 2078 spectators were in place for today´s match. The match took place on neutral ground. Wartham started off with a 3-4-3 lineup. They fielded: Russell - Budd, Mason, Edwards - Crook, Moulin, Laporte, Pelgrims - Wallace, Kneale, Smets.

G-String started off with a 3-5-2 lineup. They fielded: Medina - Kor, Escobar, Vanhove - Gellert, Nuka, Portet, Parot, Bertrand - Bovy, Torres.

Wartham mostly ignored the flanks in favour of attacks in the middle. Gabi Kor received some harsh words from his coach after he acted foolishly, probably out of lack of experience, in the 18:th minute and almost caused an opponent to score. Man, what a shot by Jules Moulin! Firing from 35 yards he didn't give the enemy goalie a chance and it was 1 - 0. Wartham put themselves up 2 - 0 when Guy Smets broke through on the right, leaving the entire defensive box behind him. In the 39:th minute of the match the visitors central line of defence had to look on as Cain Wallace dashed through, knocking home 3 - 0 for Wartham. The structure of the game started to change as Wartham decided to pull back and meet their opponents in the defensive zone. Gabi Kor got left behind when Wartham´s Chris Kneale made a sudden pull forward in the 42nd minute, finishing off with a swift strike. 4-0! G-String kept trying to force their way through on the right side. Brian Gellert got his chance in the 42nd minute, but the home sides left defence held his position and was able to stop the attack. The referee showed G-String's Prince Bertrand the yellow card after a particularly nasty challenge. G-String managed to reduce a bit later to 4 - 1 as Alexandre Torres finished off a well played combination from the left, carving through the defensive box. The home side´s Guy Smets came close to extending the lead in the 44:th minute. His shot came in off the right hand side but Idan Medina managed saving with a fingernail. The teams went for a half-time break at 4 - 1. Wartham held the ball, with a clear 69 percent possession rate.

Cain Wallace should probably have put his team up another goal in the 52nd minute, but some great goaltending by Idan Medina kept the visitors in the game. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. George Crook squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 57:th minute, asserting the lead to 5 - 1. After 70 minutes, a couple of quick and successful challenges, followed by a shot from just outside the penalty area by Jon Edwards might have resulted in another goal for Wartham. However, Idan Medina made a spectacular save. Things were going to get worse for the visitors. Nicolae Laporte squirmed himself through the central defense line in the 79:th minute, asserting the lead to 6 - 1. Wartham held the ball, with a clear 71 percent possession rate.

Wartham´s best player was Robert Pelgrims. Blake Russell on the other hand, had a terrible day. The most dominating G-String player was without a doubt Idan Medina. Priidu Nuka was a disappointment, however. The match ends 6 - 1.
