Default Help with an in-game question

There are four civs. Civs A, B, and C have an alliance, and conclude a war with Civ D by including a 5-turn war-notification requirement into the treaty (no expiration date).

Then Civ C declares neutrality, and starts an in-game defensive pact with Civ D. Civ A and B (still allied) attack Civ C. Civ D automatically declares war because of the pact. Is Civ D still bound by the 5-turn notification?

I would argue no. Civ A and Civ B were actually violating the treaty be forcing Civ D to declare due to the defensive pact.

I think it depends if the defensive pact is known to civ A and B (I'm not sure if it is shown in the diplomatic screen).

If it is known, Tubby is right.

If it is not known, I think they should stick to the 5 turn declaration.

we sorta had this in the CFC game.

You guys are confusing hard coded diplo with behind door human diplo. You cant bitch if the hard coded diplo causes war to be declared against the human to human diplo. you need to decide....if you allow the human to human diplo then any result of the hard coded diplo are just a fact of life. Get on with it and play.

Oh and link to the game in question would be nice.

I don't think we're confusing the two, we're just trying to clarify whether one supersedes the other.

Anyway, the issue has been resolved in any case. Game in question is the CivIVor game - the LAoD had someone (VRWCAgent) declare neutrality, and I (and momentarily the rest of the LAoD) just attacked him, which triggered the war declaration from BCLG, the question was whether he was free to actually attack me, or whether (despite the war declaration) he was going to hold off for five turns.

http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...182127&page=17 or just look at BCLG's, Whomp's, or my spoiler.

Well that's an odd behavior. Hey, if you really wanna freak them out just declare war on all of them.

Although maybe you'd better not, it sounds like Davo is ready to go off half-cocked...

Davo had some angry pills today. Maybe he's preparing for a mosh pit or sumpin.
