Hm okay. The funny thing is that a lot of german football teams do have nicknames. Over here a lot of teams don't, and even if they do they are rarely used. "Oranje" isn't much of a nickname either, it's simply referring to our national color. Every sportsman representing the country is wearing orange, every team is referred to as "oranje".

Back to the topic of the world cup: the dutch selection is banned from using twitter after Elia (from HSV) called one of his friends "kutmarrokaan" (f* maroccan) in front of a webcam.

Actually tipped the result... if only i'd put money on it. Although Murphy's law would have come into play then

Result kinda amazed me, I expected Mexico to win that match easily.

Uruguay - France next. Might even be an interesting game to watch. I predict France will win 1-3 (0-1 halftime)

So much for my prediction skills. Still bad result for France I'd say. I only saw the last 10 mins of the 1st period but Uruguay was playing better as well at that time.

PP, German sports journalists suffer from massive thesauria, which explains the idiotic use of DFB-Elf! it is really inexplicable, but nobody would talk about a politician as, e.g., 'der Stuttgarter', but any sportsman/women is ALWAYS called by the city name once (and ONLY once) in every article - period. Schumacher was, is and always will be 'Der Kerpener....', even to people totally clueless about whatwhenwherewhy this Kerpen thingy actually is.

Must be genetic, I am afraid......

Shocking referee with the red card. Not that the result was in doubt but it means that Australia has, literally, no chance now for the rest of the tournament.
