Looks like Materazzi said something to Zidane (after holding him anf when Zidane was running after being held) and that actually provoked him.

Well, this final certainly had everything. Star's, goals, drama, extra time, penalty's...
After Zidane left I didn't really care who'd win, so I was watching the penalty shoot-out very relaxed. Sorry for you, krys. I hope you didn't get too drunk.

Wow, they give Zidane the gold ball...amazing for an organisation that focusses so much on Fair Play.

I've read somewhere that most people from the media already voted before the red card...

Pff. I still think they can and should chenge it. A player who does something like that in a WC-final, and has a history of Violence, does not deserve the Gold Ball.

I think you will all understand my huge pain after this match. The worst match I have ever seen, in terms of emotions.
I was at a stadium once again, with many friends, it was supposed to be a night for party, and it ended through the absolutely worst way. - Our penalty : I don't know if there is a foul, I couldn't see it well on the giant screen. - Zidane's red : I don't understand. Whatever was said/done during this action, this match or before, Zidane can't be excused. He can be forgiven, but not excused. And I'd like to understand. Apart from Materazzi insulting his mother or children, or throwing away racist insults, I can't understand what happened in his head. Last year he said he was back to win the WC. You could almost say that this red card was already written before the whole thing. The YouTube vid is the main channel on which it was broadcasted. - Zidane's head : A few minutes before, he could have been THE hero of the world cup and the final. Buffon is an outstanding keeper, even if ZZ's head was directed in his direction (center). So close to victory... - Penatly shoot-out : Trezeguet's shoot hardly missed. So close to victory. - General play overall : France was better. Italy had their 1st half, and from then on until ZZ's red, it was almost only about France getting good balls. I deeply regret that Trezeguet hardly played with Henry (just a few minutes). In the extra-time it was time to attack, but we kept the same scheme. Summary : This World Cup for us was a superb story, which degenerated at 98%. Congrats to Italia for never surrending.
