I'd like to be part of it, if possible ! If I'm a bit disappointed by the experience, well I'll just forget about it. I can make a test on Sunday. FYI, I have a DSL connection, a "1024" one if it tells you something (quite fast). The thing is, I'm on a home LAN, so I don't know if I'll be slower, and of course the host computer here must be free of huge Internet application.

Matrix, Stapel and I played some turns on a tiny map, for testing purpose. It was simultaneous moves, and my elite warrior, after defending against 2 Dutch warriors, captured Amsterdam, thus crushing Stapel's puny civ. Once again the beginning of the war was due to 2 units entering a same tile at the same time.
It seems this kind of Civ is feasible. So we could set a date for everyone.

It is most likely not the matter of bandwidth because for the actual game traffic even dial-up might be OK. Please let's set a date in advance and may be run a few tests. I'm almost positive that on weekend, the DSL here is flying with the ultrasound speed. It takes longer for the PC to digest the data. However, still ping can be slow for some reason. On the other hand, even if it is a bit slow, this would not interrupt the game or slow down substantially. I've played MP online even in the red ping zone and still it was more or less OK. The biggest concern is firewall and ports. I'm wondering if just giving plain access to DirectPlay and C3C would suffice.

Krys and I got a game working. And I can host since I have no firewalls on my laptop.
My connection is 2.0 Mb/s.

What we need to do/know:
-Whoever is gonna be te host, he should test connections with the rest. -We need to know how to make a map, and how the right players come to right spots (and test this)

Point two is no problem, Stapel. It's just continuing a savegame. When connected to the host one must click on the number left of his name until his civ appears right of his name. Won't be a problem.
I volunteer to be host. So far everyone seems to be able to connect to my game. I just hope 16KB/s is enough for all of you. (i.e. 2.29KB/(s person))
