It certainly is a very big database, you have to get pretty obscure to beat it but it is a good time waster trying.
It was also fun seeing how quickly it could get the more well known people, got Clint Eastwood in 8 questions

The akinator successfully guessed Pompey, Cicero, Marcus Brutus, Daniel Boone, Sam Houston, Big Bird, and Winston Churchill. He was however baffled on Pliny the younger.

He didn't get Ireen Wust or Jan Marijnissen.
He got Barrack Obama (duh) , Mahatma Gandhi, Phil Helmuth, William of Orange, Bette Midler, Sven Kramer, Sablikova, Steve Irwin.

For female characters the questions seem to revolve around breast size, whether they were on pop idol or some such show, whether they were married to footballers or if they were models! Made me laugh anyway but typical of things at the moment.

I didn't think to try someone like Anky, I'm surprised he got that! He hadn't heard of Kelly Marks at all (was champion lady jockey in the UK a while back). Off to try some more!

Well, Naomi van As (dutch field hockey player, voted best female player world wide last year) was too difficult
So I beat Akinator on my 1st try. Obviously I had to try Sven Kramer (Naomi's boyfriend) after that, Akinator had him pretty quickly. I'm guessing Akinator is looking at your IP to determine your nationality.

Ok, so I took a Dutch politician in mind and started Akinator. After a while I get the question:
"Does your character have a funny haircut?" Now I wonder who's photo you get when you answer yes
