Looked at the server reports and it seems our traffic is growing quiet rapidly

jan 2004 : 185mb
sep 2004 : 7,58 GB

Hadn't really thought about it, but that looks like an awfull lot of traffic for a small site such as ours.

That's a lot of traffic. Is there some hidden mp3 subforum here or something?

It's Miffy's shrubbery workshop subforum.[]
Lots of stuff in it, frequently hit and a lazy mod...
j/k

But I guess traffic seriously went up with it. If inceased traffic is indeed the main problem, maybe it helps to edit/remove the img tags of 'older' posts/pics in there?

It cannot be that much, there is something wrong here. May be isp wants to cover up for something else? You can probably run a large shipping sales company with that kind of traffic.

There are lots of various promo webhostings in US but how can one tell it is good?

Or you want a Euporean-based site absolutely?

What also can be the problem is the down time itself. That usually encourages people to hit refresh a couple of times, upping the requests for a page. Although we dont really get the page we apparently do reach the ISP who then reverts us to the down-server. Could count as traffic though.

When I still used to work for dutch telecom we had similar phenoma when a switch got overloaded/went down. People start hitting the call button like crazy while trying to get a connection. Overloading the switch even more.

I think that could be it - or at least I refresh whenever I see the down-page. Sometimes I get the forum to reload right, sometimes I dont, so I have been quite happy with just hitting refresh. I ll wait a bit before I try again next time I see it, just in case. (of course I dont think it is my refreshing the page that increases traffic that much, but I am glad to help reduce it if I can)

A friend on mine who is actually in Russia uses ez:

http://ez-web-hosting.com/shared.htm

The serivce has been very friendly and so far no problems. The company is actually located somewhere in Texas. But he signed up very recently like 4 months ago. And it is a rather small personal site.

I'll be meeting with another friend of mine who actually owns a large search engine (searchbug.com) and will ask him what he is using and what does he think in general.

@paalikles: atm we dont pay for traffic, so hit that button as much as pleases you.

In fact overloading might encourage FastHosts (I know, the name is not quite what we're experiencing) to address the problem. Happy Hitting!

7.58Gb seems like the monthly bandwidth - this is not very much!

PP - In jan we moved domains didn't we? That would mean 158mb is only part of the month...
