First impression: interface is good, but it lacks those RoN qualities. gameplay is good, but I dont get the same feeling about battles that I get from other RTS games.

Usually, I have 120kb/s here, So I was thinking it was them... Anyway, This morning, when I woke up, it was there.
It is SLOW! And do have a 2.8 with a billion bytes of memory! The game seems cool. But it has NOTHING to do with A&A.......

played it last night and did'nt have a clue what was going on. In the demo you play a scenario which involves capturing the southern part of Stalingrad. But I could not see much tactic involved in it. I just massed tanks and infantry and attacked.
I did like the morale factor as my troops normally fled in panic to a safe location rather then be destroyed. Then I would send them back to the supply zone and they would recover to full strength and re-attack. It was only after i finished that i relised the difference between oil supply, ammo supply and the "other supply", during the game i simply used them to extend my supply zone, without knowing there other effects (i.e units consume oil and ammo and if you have to many units you wont have enough oil and ammo to keep them going). I think i wil have to have another go as the 1st attempt i only scratched the surface. |

Yep. Terribly slow. I have a 1.7 with only 512 mb of ram and a 128mb videocard, so I didnt expect fantastic performance, but still - given the graphics quality, that was extremely slow.
I experienced the same as digger - not much strategy (3 formations to choose from, different types of units) What I liked though: chain of supply, having the option to call in airstrikes, recon missions, engineer troops. What I didnt like: the actual warfare: it seemed like they just went over to eachother, stood next to eachother and fired away. Only thing that was a bit positive was the look of the battle animations. Lots of stuff firing, being hurled, mortar fire, etc. And then morale dropped and troops routed. and since troops were "autoreplaced" by having supply depots - I could get back to attacking with the same divisions as I had built before, and the enemy was destroyed. In the battle of Stalingrad - the German troops just stood there - no pursuit of my retreating troops, no artillery pounding - nothing to make it challenging. I was playing the normal difficulty though, and it is just a demo, so it doesnt necessarily reflect the finished AI. But it wasnt very satisfying.
