Anarres,overheating problem
I read that you are having problems with overheating. If you remember I had the same agro about 6 months ago and used a 12" fan to cool the comp as I couldn't find the trouble.
A fortnight ago my comp threw its hand in completely. To cut a long story short, the trouble turned out to be the graphics card and subsequent corruption of windows xp.A double whammy,I couldn't get past the personal settings message or reboot XP from the cd rom.I was able, however to get into safe mode. I bought a new graphics card,a slightly upgraded one to the one that had gone on the fritz, and rebooted XP in repair mode. Every thing is now tickety-boo except the repair of XP has given me some minor problems. I suggest thet you beg, borrow, steal or at worst buy a new card. The one I installed was a Ge Force fx5700le and cost £64 at the local comp shop. If you wait for the graghics card to fry, mine took about 6 months, you'll corrupt XP with all the attendant agro of re-istallation. I hope this helps, feel free to ask about any points that I've not made clear.
