An EU law concerning software patents is to be passed soon.
Critics say, that the law might enable people/companies to patent even the most obvious of ideas. The "Foundation for Free Information Infrastructure" has set up an example web page, covering a full range of trivial software patents. http://webshop.ffii.org/
