Do you ever change your mind in OT?
Apart from finding out new information (which sometimes happens), for me OT is usually a bunch of people agreeing or arguing about things that they already have set opinions on.
So, my question to you is have you ever changed your mind about something because of what you've read in an OT forum? I think I must have done so myself at some point, but I can't actually remember a concrete example, so maybe not... I would start this at CFC, but a certain mod we all know and love would probably ban me for it

Changed no - but it has helped me understand opposing views better. I can understand why everyone else is wrong now.

Never happened to me but that's because I tend to avoid OT on CFC. I wonder why?

I avoid the 'political' threads usually - but I always post in the 'science' ones. I like the sillies and music ones too. The babe thread seems stupid given we can all access as much as we want elsewhere.

I do have gotten a lot of insight into other peoples opinions. And I do have learned additional stuff about a lot of issues. Usually, this won't sway my opinion, like war: yes or no, but it does influence parts.

It has gotten me to rethink some of my views a bit. But not really change. And I have gotten a bigger insight into how fucked up the world really is

I avoid OT most of the time. I always get the idea that I'm either ignored or misunderstood. Also, I find it difficult to discuss with someone from another continent (read: USA) with huge cultural differences.
Do I ever change my mind? No, I'd only change my mind if I'd hear something new, but being omniscient and all that won't happen that often.

I have posted there maybe 15 times and I got:
A) neglected, or B) in a fight with MrPresident, or C) warned and my post deleted by AoA (happened twice!) That's my (sad) OT history... |

I pay attention to everyone who posts, and do see those like Shabbaman who say that they think they are largely ignored. And my views have been changed by OT, although whether that's a good thing, as my views tend to start out radical leftist and drift towards the center, I don't know.
OT is a minefield but it is also the biggest audience I'm likely to have for a while. |
