Pentium M beats P4 and AthlonFX
For those who like to build there own systems and have a bit of spare cash, the following link describes how to build a system based on the Pentium-M chip (Intels latest processor for notebooks). The systems consumes less power and can run faster than the latest P4 desktop incarnation and Athlon-FX chips
http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20050525/index.html One thing to note is that they use a socket adpater to a current P4 socketted motherboards. Which to me limits the cooling potential to a not so silent solution if you ask me, i.e a fan running at 3000RPM is not silent!. There are motherboards availible that take the Pentium-M chip which would provide a far greater range of cooling solutions, for quiter possibly even passive cooling. |
