PTW Ladder PBEM anyone?-LOOKING FOR OPPONENT
Hi,
Since I'm fairly new to CDZ (Digger recommended it to me after I was complaining to him about ppl always quitting on me) I don't know if that's the right place to post but here I go... I'd like to get into this whole "ladder thingie" and so I'm looking for a few players who'd like to give me some whupping (or vice versa?). As I stated above, I've never finished a PBEM game before, actually I never completed a multiplayer game in Civ3 at all. But I don't want to imply that I'm a newbie, I guess I actually was quite an experienced sp-player ('was', because I haven't played in a while). To make a long story short, I'm looking for some players. I can play a turn (or maybe even more) in the morning (depending on my schedule 7-11am GMT) and then usually from around 3pm GMT. I can't play all the time because I also have to work a lot at home (plus I have a girlfriend), but I'll definitly check my email every now and then. I'm also using ICQ/MSN, that has helped speed up things considerably in the past. Other conditions: I'd want AP for PBEM (I don't really like it but for above reasons I really think that makes sense) Level: I prefer higher levels, but don't really care. I'd like to try playing without any civ traits (I've never tried it before but it makes sense to me), but having them is no problem at all (just wanted to let everyone know that I'm up to it). I hope that covered everything, please let me know if I forgot something or messed something up. I do have some other issues (like starting another >2 player game and your guys opinion on certain maps I made), but I guess I wait for that until I'm more "comfortable" here and know better where to post what. Welcome Markstar.
Generally AP is pretty frowned on - everyone is pretty hard core (civ for most and porn for Meli). The traditional start in CDZ is to play Killer but I dont know how busy he is these days, he hasnt played a turn with me for ages

Well, as I said, I'm open to pretty much anything.
So do I have to message Killer or do I just wait for some ppl to play me? |

Welcome Markstar, hope you can play a lot of enjoyable games here and have a good time as well.
My pbem schedule is pretty occupied now with 3 very active ones and 2 less active (col knows what I mean ). When one of the active ones finishes I reserve a slot for ya' for an emperor or Demi game? I won't play AP however, ruins gameplay. And I like to play with Civ traits because it adds an extra dimension not only in gameplay but also in the friendly bashing and flaming we love so much here. I recommend for reading a thread about rules guidelines: http://www.civ3duelzone.com/forum/to...?TOPIC_ID=1306 , as you can read we love to keep'm simple and even this simple set is open for discussion Also the Mapmaking forum to get an impression of the games we typically play. Have fun!

Yep, thanks, found those rules while browsing through the forum.
I understand your point on Civ traits, I like them too (not so much in C3C since it is really unbalanced imho) but, as I said, I'm open to pretty much everything and thought one might try that out to see how it is. Anyways, I'm looking forward to play you some day. But until then - anybody else out there |

Me, if you don't mind playing Deity.
State your terms, I can work with most (apart from AP, and I want civ traits ).

Well, I thought I play on your guys' terms, but how about something like this:
PTW, medium map, pangea, some barbarian activity, deity, all victory conditions, nothing fancy (like regicide), me playing as Iroquois. I'd love to play on a customized map that you guys have here (so one guys doesn't have 3 cattles while the other one is stuck in the desert). But again I'm open to any settings!!! |

It all sounds great Markstar, but I promised myself only to play C3C from now on. Maybe I can make an exception if you don't/can't get it...
