Window instead of full screen
I really enjoy the game, but I can't get away with playing all the time, unless...
Is there a way to play in a window, instead of full screen? Then I could play as I work! I can't figure out how to do this, is there a way? Thanks in advance for any replies! |

I dont think there is Krowllaw...but why can't you just use alt-tab to change between applications. Once Civ is in the background you can usually switch beteen programs using the task bar (or alt-tab agin if you want).
Or did you want it in windowed mode so that you can hide/disguise it on the screen? So that it is not so obvios you are playing games at work. digger760 |

you can also add a line to the civ.ini, ptw.ini, conquests.ini
KeepRes=1 this means the resolution of the screen will not be changed, so if you are running a higher res in windows than PTW does it will stay high when you Alt-Tab over.

apparently, both "Keep..." & "Video..." make a windowed civ (w/ other windows res settings than the videomode varible?)
here's what Grey Fox posted on CFC (seems to work at least with C3C): http://forums.civfanatics.com/showth...94#post1376694 |

You can always use ctrl-alt-del and quickly minimize it to the taskbar if someone comes checking on what you're doing.

Thanks for the replies! It is not that I want to hide playing from anyone, but I just can't burn hours playing like I would like to. If I can write lines of code while the turns are automatic, then I can justify it! In fact, I think I am going to try your suggestions now!
Thanks! |

The following did the trick for me
KeepRes=1 Video Mode=1024 I am viewing at 1280x1024 on a 19" lcd, so civ3 shows up in a 1024x768 window, and I am able to see the rest of my desktop underneath. I can switch back and forth among applications. It works great! |
