Broken pictures discussion
Basically 3 options are possible
1- pay for old domain and leave everything as it was. Pro: hardly any work, cheap (20 euro's/year) Con: we can't access the old pictures as the old forum is closed. If you want to browse thru your old pics you'll have to talk to an admin. BTW, this is what's been done since the move to VB and I don't think anybody missed the option of browsing their old pics. 2- Move pics to new domain in 'Snitz' directory structure. Pro: little more work, cheapest (saves that 20 euro) Con: we can't access the old pictures as we use the old forum directory name. For VB it's like an external link, there's no relation with your user account. If you want to browse thru your old pics you'll have to talk to an admin. 3- Move pics to new domain in 'VB' directory structure. Pro: most elegant solution Con: Most probably very time consuming, if possible at all. _________________________________________ For now I'm implementing option 2. Thinking about option 3 but only if this can be done without to much hassle. I don't think anybody really ran into troubles because you can't browse your old pics anymore. All opinions welcome

Hm, if you'd move the pics to the same directory on the new domain and then replace all instances of civ3duelzone.com/pics (whatever) to civduelzone.com/pics, that'd solve it right?

Yes, that's what I'm doing now (option 2). HOwever browsing your old pics like you could in Snitz isn't possible anymore then. This hasn't been possible anyway since we moved to VB and nobody ever complained/asked me about it. So I suspect that won't be a problem.

I'd say go for option 2. You can spend your time on more useful matters.

I'm not even sure what you guys are talking about but how often does anyone use pictures from the old site? obviously people re-reading spoilers it'd make a difference but is there no way to simply take active subforums pictures rather than the whole lot if that's the case.
Personally most of my things are hosted at imageshack as cdz upload system was down for so long.

When I'm done with option 2 all pics currently on the forum will function again. However if you wanna recycle one of your old pics (from the Snitz days) then there's no way to conveniently browse thru them as there was in Snitz. I don't think it's a big issue.
