What to do when you have PTW and C3C PBEMs...?
I heard ptw and c3c dont run together on one machine. For me that
sucks as I have both ptw and c3c games going on. The only solution I see atm is shutting down and starting up both again and again bcoz loading a ptw pbem in c3c messes up the upgrading and corruption of that game (you suddenly play a ptw game with c3c rules). And other- wise is afaik not possible. Does anybody see more options? How do you handle it? |

In what way are they not compatable? Why can't you run up PTW and load a game in to that when you have C3C installed?
I run both with no issues...

I'm running all three civs side by side with no problems at all! I have three different icons on the desktop. What is nice is that I only need the conquests disc in the drive- the vanilla civ and ptw are quite happy to accept it as a valid disk .
I havent tried to run all three simultaneously if thats what you mean, Erik.

I mean that people told me that you can't run ptw and c3c
simultaneously (I havent tried yet). So that you have to quit c3c and load ptw to play a ptw PBEM game en than quit ptw and load c3c to run a c3c PBEM game etc etc. I tried loading a ptw PBEM game in c3c and noticed differences (compared to when I loaded the same ptw PBEM save in ptw). I think that when loading a ptw pbem game in c3c you not use the origenal 'old' ptw rules but the new c3c rules (with the corruption bug in it). Also c3c crashed when I tried to set my picture from neutral to angry towards Col in the diplomacy screen (in the same ptw PBEM game as mentioned above)... Is it clear now? Watch out loading your ptw pbems in c3c!!!! |

I have Windows XP on my laptop...
If I double-click on C3C it runs... minimise and double-click on PTW and it doesn't run However. If you right click on PTW and click run as and then just click ok, it runs OK. I have PTW and C3C running at the same time now... Dunno about other OS, I dont have them and cant test it. Anarres may now more about what my machine is doing differently to help you if you dont have XP. Hope this helps ... Melifluous [][][]

Also if you load a PTW PBEM with C3C the other player can't play it with PTW anymore.
I have WinXP laptop..let me try Mels little trick...hmmm nice, it works. EDIT: Exiting seems a littel strange, my resolution went back to 1900x1200, and PTW was just a black screen, pressed escape though and PTW exited as well EDIT2: Tried it again, both games exit as normal, no resolution changes Mel, have you seen any problems while running both? |

I alos can't run them both, simply because they start to s..t.a.g.g.e.....r......... to a halt, even if they do not crash windows. Also, quiting C3C after running PTW beforehand results in the monitor not resetting screen res properly - reboot!

Thnx for the tip meli.. It didn't work for me just clicking ok, I had to run it as another user (adminsitrator in this case), because it couldn't create the same temp-files twice

Ah OK,
I have my main user set up as a member of the administrator group so maybe that was the reason... Melifluous PS. Killer? I would have thought that after K8 you would have bought a better laptop or at the VERY least more RAM... [][][]
