Anyone know any UNIX?
I pride myself on being reasonably proficient on this oddest of odd OS's.
I can do most things from the the command line. Configure printers etc, etc. But I have a problem. I use Sco Unix 7.1.1 and after rolling over to the backup server recently I have clients complaining that the inactive-timeout is kicking them out after logging in via telnet whereas the previous server did not. Any ideas? Melifluous

Timeout is bad, it should be a hardware problem. If not, I don't know. We have a redhat-based file server at work with horrible timeout. I tired to configure it one day but it is too complicated. THe admins just piss themselves and say we have to endure. It is definitely hardware.

AFAIK you can set values for connection probing (or even turn probing off which is prolly not to be recommended).
Might want to change the value for the keepalive value, maybe try man -k keepalive and see if you can get something useful. (or man telnet(x) whereas I mean that telnet man page for the admin/server if that makes sense) |
