Indeed. As I was browsing your spoiler, I was wondering if you had thought to do it. I quickly came to the same conclusion as you : you need to run it from size 5 to size 7, because there is no forest. It must have been long to set it up, but you got 2 slaves, how cunning !
Plus those warriors, that you are building at the veteran status (smart move), will be upgraded to gallic swordsmen someday. What does it to take to beat Alex ? Good luck.
